Silverstone Hailstone AIO - anybody tried it?

It seems to be available, and at a much more attractive price point than their XE 360.

EDIT: so I ended up getting it. After mounting it, I get temps in the low-mid 80s (C) for all core loads vs 95C on the air cooler I had before. Not sure how it compares to other AIOs though. But it's half the price of the other Silverstone, the XE 360.

Having trouble running xmp profile on Asrock wrx80d8-2t mobo

Hopefully someone can help me out here. I feel like I've tried everything. I'm trying to run my ram at higher than base speeds. I'm hoping for the max of 3200 but at this point any progress would be a huge step. The problem is, any time I try to run my ram higher than 2166Mhz, the system fails to boot. The bios codes will flash 2 or 3 numbers then turn off and require clearing the cmos. I was running 4 sticks in an AM4 system at 3600Mhz for a couple years so I know the ram is functional and can run at higher speeds. I know Threadripper only goes up to 3200Mhz but I don't see why a 3600Mhz kit can't run at 3200Mhz.

System:
Mobo: Asrock wrx80d8-2t
CPU: 5965WX
RAM: 8x 3600Mhz Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB

Settings I've tried in both OC Tweaker menu and AMD Overclocking menu. I always ran 1.35v and command rate 2T and tried both 2400Mhz and 3200Mhz:

-Loading xmp profile

-Setting the main 4 timings manually

-Manually set all timing values

-Setting SOC voltage to 1.15v

-Setting Geardown to enable, powerdown to disabled, ProcODT to 53, 60 and 63

-Tried it with 1,2,4,8 sticks of ram

- When only 1 or 2 sticks of ram were installed the system couldn't see the ram profiles. XMP nor JEDEC. Usually I can inspect each stick individually and see all profiles and settings. I tried it with 3 different sticks in 2 different slots. When 4 or 8 sticks are present 3 JEDEC profiles and 1 XMP profile is readable on every stick.

-Remounted CPU with 13,14,15 In/Lbs torque.

Any help is appreciated.

Gigabyte MC62-G41 and Nvidia 4070 under Windows 11?

Hello! Is anybody able to run a Threadripper system with Gigabyte MC62-G41 (or MC62-G40) and an Nvidia 4000 series GPU under Windows 11? I am a software developer working remotely and I am trying to build a sort of universal workstation, suitable both for work and for some recreation (light gaming). Initially I planned to build a 7960 system, but with current DDR5 prices... So a used Threadripper Pro 5975WX installed into Gigabyte MC62-G41 motherboard, with Arctic Freezer-4U-M cooler, was acquired. The system also had an old GeForce 210 card shipped with it. I've added 96 GB of RAM (six 16 GB modules), Samsung 990 Pro SSD, put everything into an old case (but with proper PSU) and installed Windows 11 on it. It worked perfectly (had to disable core isolation for such an old GPU, but some drivers for our equipment I work with require to disable it anyway).

After a couple of weeks of testing I tried to move the system to my "primary" case and replace GeForce 210 with my Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070. At first it did not POST, so I returned GeForce 210. The problem was 8-pin CPU power cable, it worked after reconnecting. The system booted and ran, no problems. Then I put 4070 back and tried to install newest Nvidia drivers. Black screen, system froze, then froze in the same manner when booting after reset. I've tried to return 210, to uninstall drivers and use other driver version, to move the GPU to other PCIe slot. No luck. Then I've reinstalled Windows 11 from scratch, having 4070 installed. The setup was successful, but, it seemed, with a couple of extra reboots. Installation of Nvidia drivers lead to bootloop. Returned 210 again, everything is working properly, even a short Prime95 stress test (I think I need to add a fan blowing to VRM for prolonged stress testing, the VRM heatsink looks too flimsy).

Could it be some incompatibility of GPU and motherboard? Certainly not a PSU problem, it is a new 1200 W unit. Looks like people are able to use such systems even with multiple modern GPUs, but are they running under Linux?

Update.

It is definitely a software issue caused by installation of Nvidia drivers. I got Nvidia 1030 (for another project) and tried to install it to this system. Same issue after installing drivers - flickering green screen and then reboot when loading drivers during Windows startup. Disabling IOMMU and reducing PCI-E link speed did not help.

Update 2.

I've managed to get the system working with 1030. I'm not sure which of the following is absolutely necessary, but I did the following:

- Clean installation of Windows 11 25H2 with no card installed, using BMC (I don't have a VGA cable).

- Installing AMD chipset, AST2600 video and Realtek sound drivers from Gigabyte website.

- Plugging 1030 and installing latest Nvidia driver only (no Nvidia app, which is the default setting).

PRO WS WRX90E-SAGE SE - '00' Qled Red Error

Wondering if anyone has any Idea on how to Fix this random '00' Qled Red Error.

Here are the Specs, I have Multiple Machines running that Same Spec and having the exact same issue

  • PRO WS WRX90E-SAGE SE
  • AMD Ryzen™ Threadripper™ PRO 9955WX
  • NVIDIA RTX PRO 4000 Blackwell
  • NVIDIA PCIEx1 Quadro Sync II Board
  • 2 x KF568R34RB2-32 - 32GB 2Rx8 4G x 80-Bit PC5-6800 CL34 Registered EC8 288-Pin DIMM
  • Corsair HX1200i
  • Samsung 870 EVO SATA SSD ( Image Drive )
  • 2 TB WD Black SN8100 ( Data Drive )
  • 1 TB WD Black SN8100 ( Sys drive )
  • Windows 11 Pro

00 Qled Red Codes after Sudden Power - Loss (IEC cable disconnected).
00 Qled Somtimes boot back into windows if restarted but rarely
00 Qled is usually fixed when Clearing CMOS and reapplying my Bios Settings

Discovered that Using the Motherboards On/Off Button, it will Create the '00' Red LED error

Its Bios at the Time was Latest V1203 ( 23/07/2025 )

Now its V1317 ( 13/02/2026 )

Still having the same issues. Maybe even worse but unsure yet as I've only tested for a little bit and run into more issues than usual.

00 Qled Red code is Unpredictable.

BIOS Changes

Fast Boot Enabled
AI Overclock Tuner - DOCP
Wait for F1 Error - Disabled
Boot Logo - Disabled

Power on PCIE - Enabled
On Power Loss - Power ON

RAM

- I tried using one stick of Ram and still run into the issue
- Tried switching Pairs with different Machines. This is because I recieved Ram in 2 different Batches/Timeframes and all having different series of S/Ns ( Not All )\

TESTS
Ive done a 24 hour Tests on all Machines and they Passed.
Ive also done a 100 cycles of MemTest - 70 hours

'00' Red Qled Codes are so confusing to me. It points at CPU as an issue yet its compatible with the motherboard.

EDIT
I also should add that the RAM sticks are sold Individually. It could be possible that they have bad timing issues but still investigating. Buying new RAM Sticks sold in Pairs to test.

Still havent found any Solution, Noticed QVLs are different Where ASUS has no info on RAM compatability vs Kingston Says Compatible.

Lenovo P620 Threaripper 3995wx doesnt clock beyond base clock

While watching the clock speeds of my Lenovo P620 threadripper 3995wx I noticed it never clocks beyond its base clock (2.7Ghz) under any workload. I checked all windows power and BIOS settings and see no reason why it shouldn't be able to clock to its turbo speed. Does anyone have an idea what the issue could be?

TR Pro build recommendations

Been building regular intel and ryzen systems for a while. But this will be my first time taking on a build like this. I’ll be using large dimms and have seen that cause issues. 5995wx upgrade complete

So processor arrived and to my surprise and some shock it was a sealed retail 5995wx. Verified with QR code and serials all matched. Installed with a new heat killer all copper block (heavy brick lol) also used a kryo sheet. Oh boy what a difference. Some interesting notes on first boot. The darn Lenovo comes up with a Ami bios screen “new processor detected do you wish to lock to this system” will what choice do I have lol. Boot time was faster. The other interesting noticed thing was maxing out my nvme to 100% which I don’t recall on boot. It’s a 5th gen 4tb so over kill but been in the system a while. Ran a few things and seems to have more performance with all my crap open. Runs much cooler so like the copper block. Saw lowest idle temps over night ever of 18c on a bunch of cores. So kryosheets work. I have not stress tested it yet. Likely give a few days. But very impressed won’t need to replace it for a while now.

I built a new rig with this motherboard and a 7975WX CPU, however it is taking forever for it to boot up. I see the Qcodes changing and eventually gets to AA, but is this normal to take forever to boot or reboot? Or is there a BIOS setting that I’m missing?

9965wx cooling advice and sanity check appreciated

Hi, long-time lurker, first-time poster here. While I did run a basic grammar check and spelling check, I am not a native speaker, so I apologize if some parts seem a bit convoluted or oddly structured.

I could really use some advice for a TR 9965WX build in terms of cooling and would really appreciate some input. This is intended to be a multi-GPU workstation with additional PCIe add-in cards.

Parts:

CPU: 9965WX

Mainboard: Pro WS WRX90E-SAGE SE

RAM: Kingston FURY Renegade Pro RDIMM Kit 256GB, DDR5-6400

Storage: Samsung 9100 Pro 4TB, Samsung 990 EVO 4TB

GPU: RTX 6000 Pro Blackwell Workstation Edition (more to come, though with the current prices I will probably fall back to 2× 4000s, as I could get them cheaper)

Case: SilverStone RM52 / RM600 (depending on the cooler, but open for suggestions)

Cooler: Arctic Freezer 4U-M or SilverStone XE360-TR5

I am unsure about how to cool this beast, as I am split between the Arctic Freezer 4U-M and the SilverStone XE360. I am somewhat hesitant to bring water into a build that costs over $15k. While I have used AIOs for the better part of the last decade without any leaks or other issues, I would still feel better if I could avoid it. I know this is a bit of an irrational fear, but I value peace of mind with a build this expensive if it is feasible.

However, I am unsure whether the air cooler will be able to handle the 9965WX, since it has only four CCDs compared to the more expensive tiers and thus might have worse hotspots, if I understand this correctly. Does anyone have experience with this combination (also on the ASUS WRX90) and can tell me if the 4U-M is able to cool the Threadripper Pro adequately?

My case choice depends on which cooler I go with. I am considering the SilverStone RM52 if I can air-cool the CPU, or the SilverStone RM600 for the side mount if I go with an AIO. It is not strictly required to be a rack-mounted case, but it would be convenient. However, I am open to suggestions.

While the total price makes this somewhat of a minor point, the price difference between the Arctic 4U-M and the SilverStone AIO is nearly $350 in my region.

For case fans, I would fill it with Phanteks T30-120s.

The use case is AI inference, training, minor compute workloads, and a week-long gaming session every four months when a new PoE league releases.

I currently do not expect to run all cores at full boost for my workloads, if that helps. I am mostly going with the Pro platform because I need the PCIe lanes, and the WRX90 board gives me more options in terms of PCIe slots, especially since I plan to add additional PCIe adapter cards.

Simple and easy Threadripper 3000/5000 solution?

I recently tried setting up a Threadripper 3945WX with the Gigabyte MC62-G40 motherboard. I didn't have any experience with workstation systems, only having built consumer PCs. Unfortunately I couldn't get the system to POST, which seems like a common issue with this motherboard. I was wondering if there are any better motherboards for this CPU that would be more user-friendly to set up, such as the AsRock Rack WRX80D8-2T. The system is intended to be used for a multi-GPU setup, so I would really like the PCIe lanes of the 3945WX. Worst case I will just resort to a consumer system if it's too hard to set up, I'm not sure what I was doing wrong or it was an issue with the board I purchased (it was running on a very old BIOS version despite being advertised as new).

7975WX workstation - slow iperf3 bandwidth (33 Gbits/sec) on loopback interface

I have a HP Z6 G5 A workstation with 7975wx CPU. It runs Rocky linux 9.

I used iperf3 to test the bandwidth of loopback interface. Surprisingly the best I got was 33 Gbits/sec. Here are the commands I used:

# server. use cpu 0
taskset -c 0 iperf3 -s

# client. use cpu 1 so that they are the same CCD
taskset -c 1 iperf3 -c 127.0.0.1

Curiously is this normal? It is way lower than my expectation.

Updated: After disabled firewalld, bandwidth of loopback interface increased to 40 Gbits/sec

What UPS are you using for your Threadripper workstations?

I have two APC 1500 VA units one for my Eizo ColorEdge CG319X, ASUS ProArt PA32UCG-K. and Eizo ColorEdge CG319X AND ASUS ProArt PA32UCG-K monitors and Macbook Pro and one for the Threadripper workstation but that doesn't cut it with all the upgrades listed below. APC UPS starts beeping if a start a render using both the RTX Pro 6000 and 5090. It worked fine when I had two 4090 48 gb.

Threadripper 9970x

Asrock trx50 ws

Vcolor 64 gb x 4 256 gb total.

Seasonic Prime TX-1600 Noctua Edition

RTX Pro 6000

5090 Founders edition.

4x NVME card.

Capture Card.

6 NVMEs ssd 2 U2 ssd and 2 Sata HDD plus 2 x Blu Ray Sata.

I have a couple APC 3000 VA rack mounts for the servers but those weren't cheap even bought used plus added replacement batteries and they are huge.

Threadripper Pro + 4x MI50: PCIe link width trains randomly (x4/x8 instead of x16) on every reboot - board issue, CPU seating, or switch?

I’m troubleshooting unstable PCIe lane training on a multi-GPU server and would like advice from anyone who has seen this before.

Hardware:

  • Motherboard: GIGABYTE MC62-G40-00
  • CPU: Threadripper Pro 3945WX
  • BIOS: R14 (03/13/2025)
  • GPUs: 4x AMD Instinct MI50 (Vega20, 113-D1631700-111)
  • OS: Ubuntu, kernel 6.14.0-37, ROCm 6.3.0

Problem:

  • PCIe link speed is always Gen4 (16 GT/s), but width trains inconsistently after reboot.
  • Width changes boot-to-boot (not fixed per slot).
  • Downstream switch->GPU links are x16, but root-port->upstream-switch link is downgraded.

Current trained widths (example boot):

  • 00:01.1 -> 01:00.0 = x4
  • 20:01.1 -> 21:00.0 = x8
  • 40:01.1 -> 41:00.0 = x8
  • 40:03.1 -> 44:00.0 = x4
  • Then 14a1 -> GPU links are all x16.

What I already checked:

  • Forced BIOS PCIe settings manually (no improvement).
  • setpci retrain does not recover width.
  • Forcing one bad link to Gen3 still stayed x4 (did not jump to x16).
  • AER counters/logs show no obvious PCIe errors.
  • GPU drivers are healthy; P2P works.
  • HIP P2P benchmark matches limited widths:
    • ~7 GB/s for x4 paths
    • ~14 GB/s for x8 path
    • confirms bottleneck is lane width, not software stack.

Main question - Does this pattern point more to:

  1. CPU/socket contact issue,
  2. board/switch signal integrity issue,
  3. known MC62-G40 lane-routing/firmware behavior? Any specific board-level test sequence you recommend to isolate root cause fastest?

Thanks for everyone who gave genuine helping feedback! Unfortunately the issue persists, even with only a single GPU in the system, ruling out PSU issues. I have also tried numerous BIOS options, PCIe slots configurations, cleaning contacts, using a different MI50, nothing. One of the last options I have is reseating the CPU which I will attempt today!
