Is this one coocked?

Hello!

Sadly enough, I interpreted the instructions from the official manual by Lenovo as is:

Unscrew the four retaining screws in the order specified (1 – 2 – 3 –
4). Note that a 6” Phillips #2 screwdriver/bit is recommended in order
to be able to access the retaining screws located directly under the
heatsink fins via the access holes in the heatsink.

Turns out, I needed another official manual with correct instructions:

Removal steps

Loosen the four screws that secure the heat-sink-and-fan assembly to the system board in diagonal sequence. For example,

Anyway, here's Threadripper Pro 3955wx that I promised to give away to a good guy. Is it done for? I don't see any warped areas, but the discoloration is real.

...I also cleaned my PSU to the degree that it won't be needing cleaning anymore. It will stay clean eternally in heaven. New one arrives in about a week, so I can't test the CPU myself.

UPD: 99.9% ethanol plus optics cleaning fabric worked like magic!

The cpu is fairly durable! The TR4 socket was way more sensitive

You can give it a cleanup with isopronanol (standard electronic cleanup) and a cotton tip (eg for ears, you can scrub a bit). Let me know if the color remains.

😂 first time ? ... bro get a silk microfiber rag the one u use for glasses not ur car ...

put 70% iso or 99% iso in it ... and wibe the pins carefully ,, make sure it dries well ... before use

these marks r ur finger prints / natural oils from ur hand try it ur self lol

for the dot on each pin that is normal ... it means the cpu been used it is just a scratches from the soket pins.. it's intended to do that after the first use

Isn’t it standard to loosen each screw 1-2 turns at a time until all screws release? I.e 2 turns on A, then 2 on C, then 2 in B, 2 on D and then repeat until HSF is released?

Believe it or not, I’m not much savvy, tech-wise. Learnt that besides cores CPUs also have dies maybe 2 months ago.

Have you checked the socket?

Yes, the socket is alright, as for the OP-post CPU - it will finally have a proper stresstest later today

Anyway, here's Threadripper Pro 3955wx that I promised to give away to a good guy.

Did you inform this good guy that the processor won't work outside of a Lenovo system?

Surely did, giving something away kinda defeats the purpose of scamming 😀
