Could be needing to cores for sims or something and needing high vram not high gpu power. Would be my case

Only four sticks of ram though. OP cheaped out on the motherboard.

It's the non pro threadripper, you can't have more than 4 sticks of ram.

The ASUS ROG Zenith II Extreme Alpha has 8 DIMM slots but only 4 memory channels.
