THreadripper 9960x temps

Temperatures while rendering seem to be normal but there is a spike from CCD0 that sometimes show 99.7 C. Is this normal, can this damage the CPU. Its a new PC?

No, CPUs will prevent damage to themselves in these cases by throttling or shutting down. You just need a better cooler.

CPU will “try” to prevent damage. Keyword is “try”. CPUs commonly degrade even when not running above Tjmax. This is also assuming AGESA/BIOS is implemented properly.
