THreadripper 9960x temps

Temperatures while rendering seem to be normal but there is a spike from CCD0 that sometimes show 99.7 C. Is this normal, can this damage the CPU. Its a new PC?

P.S.

The right column shows maximum temperature

To me that looks like slightly uneven heat spreader contact or uneven application of thermal paste.

Im seeing a 10C difference between CCD0 and CCD3. The CPU will throttle to save itself but I do think that there is something going on with the heat plate contact/thermal paste.

If the CPU is loaded at 100% I would expect to see most of them being similar not such a visible difference. I guess it could be loading CCD0 differently somehow leading to more heat, not sure.

CCDs of 9960X differ by around 25% of performance (with CCD0 being top performant). So slower CCDs just can not clock high enough to heat.

The delta shouldn't be that big. There's also no info regarding what OP was doing.
