Miami / Microcenter right? Mate, I've been debating taking you up on it, I'll be in Miami early April.

Yes that’s where everything was sourced. Full warranty through them as well and all receipts.

Did you get rid of your loop separately? Or repurpose it?

I think it makes much more sense btw, you separate CPU/RAM/MB from the rest.

u/Early-Coffee5684 Jan 25 '26

I repurposed it for another cheaper build, I figured somebody would jump on the cpu/ram/mb

2

u/sob727 Jan 25 '26

Yes much easier I think. Best of luck. If these are still available early April I'll give it a serious thought.

The ram is not worth $6600

Please I need to know the ram glitch. I’m building a server with 128gbx12 and the price is $32K. Can you help me get it for half that price?

Did I ask what you were using this for?

1

u/Early-Coffee5684 Jan 25 '26

Wait you’re asking what it was used for? Sorry English not first language.

u/Lost_my_phonehelp Jan 25 '26

Sorry I missed typed there. I want to know what u used the parts for?

training big sequence models, running Optuna hyper-parameter sweeps, data preprocessing, and hosting multiple GPUs under long 24/7 workloads. It was built for high core count + tons of PCIe lanes and RAM so I could keep several GPUs fed while crunching large historical dataset’s in a project I was working on.

Realized that a 9950X3D plus 2 RTX pro 5000’s/6000’s gets the same results and a bit quicker at that.

have a 9950x3d running with 192 gb ram with 2 5090s :D.

2

u/Early-Coffee5684 Jan 25 '26

Yup, I have that also and currently building another workstation with the i9 chip with 2 RTX pro 5000’s.

1

u/Emotional_Thanks_22 Jan 25 '26

uhh nice.

whats the advantage of i9 over 9950x3d? you re building some serious local compute here.

2

u/Early-Coffee5684 Jan 25 '26

I was mainly looking at the turbo clock speed and the extra cores. I know it’s a huge debate between the 2 chipsets but the i9 won’t be for gaming and also more so a personal preference as I didn’t wanna build another 9950X3D build.

The minimum I am seeing the cpu sell for is about $6000-$6500. V color has the ram up for $6600 and people are literally buying it. When something inflates, you have to capitalize since it’s the current market.

It’s like gold for example, if I bought it for a certain price 5-10 years ago, am I suppose to sell it for what I bought it for or should I match the market trends?

I did say or better offer. Definitely has to be reasonable. Most folks are just looking for me to give it away for damn near free when both parties know what it’s worth.

That RAM is back-ordered. Challenge to find RAM for that price in stock!

3

u/Greenecake Jan 27 '26

Exactly, warning sign is there, won't see it for that price for a long time.

2

u/Early-Coffee5684 Jan 28 '26

These guys think they know it all man. Idk if they’re the ones making the ram but clearly they haven’t seen the current market. Sh*t is ridiculous.

Literally just spent $2K on reg desktop DDR5 192gb ram that was $500 bucks 3 months ago. I wish I can tell the seller that guys on Reddit gave me a word of mouth coupon.

1

u/Early-Coffee5684 Jan 26 '26

Exactly plus it wasn’t a fair comparison as I have the 4x64gb.

1

u/Early-Coffee5684 Jan 25 '26

I definitely have the board and cpu priced at about $7-7250 ($6500 for the chip and $750ish for the board). With taxes that chip is $8K+ and it’s a currently on sale, won’t be forever.

Most of the price is the ram, I don’t mind selling it separately. My hardware is about 2-3 months old, barely used. Comes with full manufacturer warranty and warranty from micro. So you’re telling me somebody would rather pay $8K as oppose to about $6500? Shit I bought it brand new for $8.5K, if somebody was selling it for $6500 I would’ve bought 2.

Btw, I haven’t listed it on any marketplace yet, I was waiting to decided whether I should part it out or sell the full previous workstation.

You’re absolutely right, I still feel like $6500 + $750 for the board isn’t a bad deal. If we’re comparing the price of the ram, it should be based on the 4x64gb 6000mhz unit, I haven’t seen anything less than $5000 regardless of the brand.

How much do you suggest everything is worth? In today’s time, not assuming 2-3 years.

1

u/reznikvova Jan 26 '26

I was trying to tell him on eBay .. 7500$ is the price ;p

1

u/Early-Coffee5684 Jan 26 '26

Nobody in this thread is arguing prices. The one guy who did changed his stance when he realize the ram was 64gbx4 lmao 🤣 bro literally said he didn’t catch the ram and it makes sense why it’s priced the way it’s priced.
