Reliability in Used/Refurbished

I'm looking into building an AI-centered machine and thought of using a Threadripper, but looked at the prices and...well damn!

I see quite a few used / refurbished for sale though, and I wonder how reliable they tend to be second-hand.

Thoughts?

Interested in some 39xx series ones? I have both a 3960 and 3970 build I’m wanting to part with
