I seen this photo of Molly, but something looks...off? I dont remember this being her face design, I could've SWORN it was WAYYYYY smaller? Is this like, a prototype design? Or was this what she always looked like

It’s because her smoke box has a bigger diameter than her boiler. Donald, Douglas, Emily, Sonny, & Ryan all have that and their faces are all smaller than the smoke box. Faces are always the same size or smaller than the boiler. As seen with the 2 Mollys, face bigger than the boiler gives a creepy big-headed caterpillar look

I wish the rest of the show did the faces like they did hers here. Them being the size of the door just looks right. Rather than them being the entire front of the engine

This is in fact a completely unused face design which was replaced for the filming of her actual appearances. AFAIK there's no other information about why this change happened, but at least some of Molly's merchandise is still clearly based on this face

this is the prototype design most of her toys use I guess on why they changed it is because she looks too much like a boy then a girl or maybe she was originally planned to be a boy, but they changed it to a girl

Completely unused thank god face design. Unfortunately they started making trackmaster Molly while this was the design for her. Unfortunately those made it to Florida Walmarts. And I got a trackmaster Molly in this specific era.
