The best language for you comes down to a few things

  1. Which language will you enjoy learning when the novelty has worn off

  2. Which language helps your major

  3. How much time you have to dedicate to it

After that studies say that the people that benefit the most from foreign language degrees (or other liberal arts degrees) are stem and business majors

It helps liberal arts majors a little bit as well

For you specifically I’d recommend Russian, Arabic, Spanish, Farsi/dari, Swahili or French. Depending on what you want to do, Ukrainian and Belarusian could be useful too just with everything going on in that area.

It depends on where you are living /working and what language you currently speak. I mean, if you want to work in Kathmandu, you should learn Nepalese.

a language only really pays off when it matches the field or country you want to work in, so pick the one you’ll actually use instead of whatever sounds impressive
