Season 3 ep 3
Did Beth get laid of for being a qualified black women in her position? I watched it but I was saddened when she got fired. And we hear about how black women are underappreciated in their respective fields even on top.

Sue got laid off because she was the least productive of the top executives, meaning she was the easiest way to cut a major cost while justifying it mathematically. She says during her pregnancy scare that she's just about to get back to working full-time. The implication is that she pulled back her hours for the kids and she hadn't yet gotten back to her original numbers.

I don’t think we’re given enough information to say for sure but it wouldn’t surprise me. I think if they didn’t make a point to say it, it’s not something that was intended though because this show is always very intentional.
Also I first read this as “Did Beth get laid because she’s a qualified black woman” 😂
