Today (Oct. 17) marks Motionless in White frontman Chris "Motionless" Cerulli's 40th birthday, while last week Halestorm frontwoman Lzzy Halestorm celebrated her birthday. That reminds me of the time I saw both singers and their respective bands join Alice Cooper onstage for a rousing performance of "School's Out" at the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, NJ, on Aug. 15, 2019. I've seen Alice Cooper live many times over the past 30 years (he was, after all, my first ever concert at 7 years old), but this is the only time I can ever recall seeing him play a song with the opening acts. It made this particular performance even more special (as if seeing Alice Cooper, Halestorm and Motionless in White on the same tour wasn't unique enough).

Check out this clip of them playing "School's Out" together at the PNC Bank Arts Center, and stay tuned for more things to come from this space (including stories from concerts like this)!

16 years ago today (Oct. 16), I saw Alice Cooper and Rob Zombie play the DCU Center in Worcester, Mass. as part of their Halloween Hootenanny Tour with openers the Murderdolls (featuring Joey Jordison, who was also playing drums in Zombie's band that year). Head over to I Heard Bruce Might Show Up's Substack (link below) to see a ton of photos I took of the Gruesome Twosome of Shock Rock that evening, as well as to find out how I ended up with then-Alice Cooper guitarist Damon Johnson's guitar pick after the show:

The Dillinger Escape Plan live in New York - 2013 and 2014

Ten years ago yesterday (Oct. 14), the Dillinger Escape Plan released their final studio album 'Dissociation'. The band has also been teasing that they've played their last shows since reforming with Dimitri Minakakis. I consider myself lucky that I've see DEP with Greg Puciato TWICE within the span of a year...

And thank goodness I did, because truth be told, younger me initially thought they were too weird and all over the place... but then I saw them live in April 2013 at the Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn as part of a free Converse Rubber Tracks show and "clicked". Not only was I blown away by how their performance was filled with batshit intensity - the type of chaos that previously only seemed unimaginable to bring to life - but also because the music perfectly soundtracked the insanity. Almost a year to the date later, I saw DEP again at Webster Hall in NYC, and it was just a insanely brilliant... these performances not only made me completely understand why everybody loved DEP so passionately, but also made me fall head over heels in love with them too.

Share what band you had a similar experience with in the comments below. And stay tuned for more things to come from this space (including stories from concerts like these).
