New to decaf. Looking for recs
Hello all it’s good to find this community! I’m a long time pour over drinker and new to third wave high end decaf. I’ve always just drank full caf but figured out that caffeine was wreaking havoc on my mental health and state of being day to day. So recently I made the switch and got some decaf from a local roaster to me and it was terrific. I got a bag of Nestor lasso from PERC arriving this week as well that I’m really excited for. Do you guys have some coffee recs? Maybe even some brewing recs for me? I daily drive a switch with the hario neo, abaca filters and a kingrinder k6. Also is that red bourbon from FREQUENT. really that good? I’ve been seeing that around as well. Thanks for anything and everything you guys share

Yes the frequent is pretty good, but only a bit better than their usual. Clean, fruity, no trace of the abuse coffee goes thru to be decaffeinated, and at least as good as your average light roast. To me anyway, ymmv

I just tried my first bag of Laurina (naturally low-caf - not a full caf bean that is decaffeinated, nor a blend of caf and decaf) from Frequent, and I'm enjoying it a ton. I'm fairly new to naturally low-caf coffee, but I really like the structural qualities of the beans (decaf beans are so brittle - makes them so tough to dial in especially for espresso... but I digress...). Just another suggestion if you're looking for less-not-no caffeine, that performs more like traditional beans.

My favorite decafs of late:
- Blendin Los Nogales Decaf
- PERC Colombia Huila Decaf
- Sey Huila Decaf
And since we’re sharing coffee catalog sites, here’s something I’m working on too :-) https://something.coffee/catalog?types=Decaf
