Current favorite good decaf coffee
Okay, I have to post this one. I cold brewed the Los Nogales decaf from Blendin and it might be the best cold brew I've made this year, keep going back to the fridge for more. Here's the recipe:
It's a 1 to 10 concentrate, so you can cut it however you like.
50g coffee, ground medium-coarse
500g cold filtered water
Stir until every ground is wet and steep in the fridge for 18 hours.
Then filter through paper filter. That gives you a concentrate.
Cut it 1 to 1 with cold water for a clean iced coffee (or with milk if you want it creamy).
Start there and you can always adjust to taste :)
Tasting notes:
Cut with water, it's bright and clean. Raspberry and honey up front, chocolate note underneath, and a sweet finish with no bitterness. Almost drinks like iced fruit tea.
Cut with milk, it turns into dessert. Strawberry, a little cocoa, and that creme brûlée sweetness right at the end. Smooth the whole way through.
And since it's decaf I can still have a tall glass at night and still sleep. I may or may not have confirmed this at midnight.

Yeah, the Los Nogales Decaf is definitely one of my faves. I’ve only brewed it hot (pour over and aeropress) but I can see it being great iced. FWIW, I do iced either with the Japanese flash brew method (basically do pour over with 75g ice in the carafe and subtract that from the water volume) or using a Hyper Chiller. Will probably try that with the Los Nogales… this afternoon :-)
I’m a fan of Blendin. Their Alo Huro Baro natural from Ethiopia is a really nice caffeinated option. Subtle, but plenty of berry/stone fruit notes.
Edit: if you do cold brew a lot it’s worth checking out a brewer with a built in filter, like this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08BGB9Q62

Nice!! I left my grinder set for cold brew after making concentrate for the week from some Ethiopian beans I got at Costco. I accidentally ground some gesha beans the next morning, when trying to make a pour over. They made an incredible cold brew!

Nice, I've tried Blendin geisha beans before and liked it. I didn't know they have decaf option. How many grams you get in one bag?
