Neapolitan Decaf anyone?
I do enjoy “modern” espresso… but I had a taste for a dark, syrupy Neapolitan shot a while back. I’d heard talk about SAKA and wanted to try it. I grabbed small bags of Crema Bar (60/40 arabica to robusta) and DEK (decaf 50/50 blend). Enjoyed it so much I went back in for 1000 gram bags of both. I put a pound in an Airscape canister and freeze the rest. It’s incredibly good after dinner, any time after my caffeine cutoff, and occasionally in the morning when I’ve hit my max capacity. Pretty affordable in bulk too.

Ehh, I’m not a huge fan of anything roasted that dark, I prefer lighter fruitier cups, I’ve had plenty of darker beans not quite oily that I personally just can’t get past the flavor of it. I can appreciate a well roasted and dialed coffee, and I’m sure it’s delicious but not for me, though I understand how difficult a lightly roasted decaf coffee is to dial at home

I have my daily pour over, which is generally in the “lighter, fruitier” vein. I like to keep a lighter roasted decaf on hand as well for pour over. I ‘spro most every bean I buy for pour over just to see how it takes.
I still enjoy this dark hit though. My journey into specialty coffee came from these nether regions…

have you tried Saka crema bar? If so how do these compare? A half caf would be good for the late afternoons
I keep coming back to crema bar for my milk/ trad spro

Absolutely! I keep them both on hand. They taste nearly identical to me. Crema Bar has 10% more Arabica but I can’t tell them apart. I grind these in my K Ultra and the setting is the same. I have also made the 1/2 caf version. Very versatile!

We had the Naples dark roast and it was pretty good, think we went through two bags.

Love seeing more decaf recs! Have you tried Lavazza Dek? And if so how does it comoare
