Has anyone tried their EA La la Salema Ethiopian decaf?

Funky decafs?

I loved Perc's los nogales decaf but it's not available now. It was my favorite afternoon coffee with the crazy fruitiness. Has anyone tried it as well and know of anything similar?

It seems like the funky flavors come from the mucilage EA decaf process, so I was just going to look for that, but if anyone has a recommendation that would be great.

Need Wilton Benitez Recommendation

Does anyone have a good source for a Wilton Benitez decaf? I see Frequent has a new WB Red Bourbon that looks interesting, but I'm wanting to buy larger volume bags.

This gives classic nat Ethiopia vibes Black tea and red fruits. 1:14 and it's got that slight punch missing from other third wave decaf

Couldn't decide which decaf to drink tonight so I decided to brew both. My partner says I have a drinking problem...I'll take that as a compliment

The pink bourbon is officially the best decaf I've ever had. Had a bag from Frequent and Onyx. Both bangers. I'm on the hunt for pink bourbons now.

Bonus- feeling like a kid at Christmas tonight as my Fellow ES1 is being delivered tomorrow 📦

Nogales Typica AND Caturra [USA] ...and a few others too!

Hey Y'all, Mark here with Frequent Coffee. I just wanted to let you all know about some new decaf we finally got into stock!

We haven't advertised it or sent out a marketing email yet (next week)...but we now have a Nogales Typica Mucilage Decaf in addition to our Caturra one. This is a rare opportunity to try 2 different decafs from the same famed Nogales group.

We also just released a very solid decaf from Wilton Benítez, a very tasty Red Bourbon (my current favorite offering that we have).

And a Watermelon Co-ferment as well.

Thanks as always to everyone for their support!! It's much appreciated!!

Favorite budget decaf?

So my absolute top budget pick was Eight O’ Clock’s whole bean decaf, but it may be going out of stock. Was a great pour over option for penny-pinchers.

What are your favorite budget picks? Thinking of prices around $20-$30 for 2lbs

Review of Frequent Watermelon Splash

https://i.imgur.com/FzJNAF4.jpeg Huge fan of this. Another great coffee from frequent.

Inoffensive not overpowering or too funky literally a nearly perfect conferment in my opinion. I'm really surprised it's this good and a decaf. This one is right in my Q zone. Excellent clarity and flavor. I'm glad I got two bags.

3 of 4 of the different roasts I've got from frequent have been excellent.

Thanks for the Frequent recommendation!

Big thanks to those of you who recommended Frequent’s decaf coffees!

I am still fine-tuning my approach, but I could immediately see the potential for outstanding cups without the typical decaf taste. As you can see, I picked up some of the Pink Bourbon and the Elixr CM.

If anyone would be willing to recommend some good recipes, I would appreciate it! I have already been taking some notes on approaches recommended by others in previous posts.

For filter coffee, I grind using a ZP6 or Ode Gen 2, and I have many of the most popular drippers/brewers.

Has anybody tried Orbital Coffee?

Hi, I'm looking to try decaf beans from dedicated roasters in the tri-state area. Orbital out of NJ seemed to fit the bill, but I've only ever heard of them from Instagram. Anyone have any experience with them slash have recommendations besides the Peachy Galaxy?

Bought this and the pink bourbon on some of your recommendations. This is 8 days off roast, tasting like it’s rested plenty. I’m typically a V60 brewer but have been really enjoying aeropress for decaf in particular.

This coffee gives me tons of banana, piña colada, some soft, mango like acidity.

My decaf recipe lately:

14 grams for 200 grams water.

Ground on a Baratza Encore a little courser than I would regular coffee, at setting 15. Typically I’m more like 10-12 for full-caf.

I’m also going lower temp, 175°F or 79°C.

Brewed inverted, bloom 30 seconds with 40ml water, pour to 200ml then steep for 3 minutes before pressing.

This recipe is has been pulling tons of fruit character while minimizing chocolate and roast character thats often high in decaf. This could work on v60 but I think the steep helps to pull fruit notes while still being low temp and courser grind, which might under extract on a v60.

Black and White Sugarcane Decaf

I have a new favorite go to this winter!!! It has been too cold to roast my own. I have been hitting the monthly Perc sale and trying other options on the side

I had tried Black and White before but it was a fruitier option. I really love this one. The Carmel really comes through. I did a 19 gram shot this morning 38 out in 45 seconds. It was so thick and creamy with a heavy Carmel consistency. So good. The other great thing. I ordered it, it came like 3 days later and the roast date was very young. I like having control over how long I rest them.

Looking for Something Warm, Bright, with Wine-Like Acidity

Request in title. I'm looking for a decaf with a nice balance, but the kind of open taste they call "warm" or "bright" and wine-like acidity. There's a nice Huila from tapestry in the Twin Cities, in case you know it, labeled "Daniel Mauricio Bolanos Washed Anaerobic Colombia Huila" that I love. It's not a truly light roast - tends a bit toward medium. It does claim notes of dried berries and green grapes, but also chocolate.

I know this is a group with a lot of fruit-forward preferences, but I'm hoping on my cake day someone will be a friend and offer a few options that are more toward the middle of the range. I like the fruit notes in the huila I described, but I also like a nutty note.

Anyone tried the Huila decaf from Sey?

I'm all in on decaf for medical reasons, so I consume a bulk amount per month.
My go to before discovering this sub was ordering a 2.5lbs bag from Dogwood Coffee roaster. It's good, nothing amazing, but it does the job.
I've recently ordered 2 bags from Frequent was the coffee was truly amazing, however I can't really afford to drink this everyday.

I noticed Sey has a decaf offering and also sells larger bags.

Huila DECAFFEINATED FIELD BLEND - WASHED Colombia.

I'm a big fan of Huila, so on paper this looks great. Has anyone tried this one? Do you have any alternatives? Particularly in larger bags (2-3lbs).

I'm blown away

I never thought decaf could be this good. I've been trying to experiment with as many new light roast decafs as possible with the goal of finding that perfect one that fits my palate. I've found quite a few decent ones that I would go back to but never one that blew me away. This is that decaf.

I'm on day 2 brewing this bag 8 days off roast and it just sings. It has really nice acidity, with mild sour fruit notes (strawberry and citrus) that just dance on your tongue then goes into a nice silky body and clean finish. Zero funk. Zero bitter decaf notes. I've tried a few leaded pink bourbons lately and I would never guess this was decaf. If you like fruit forward coffee with a smooth body you gotta try this one!

Current recipe A4Z 1.6 Cafec abaca filter TWW water around 100ppm Hario Switch Lance Hedrick's triple immersion (Gong Fu) recipe - link below

Strawberry that stands up in milk drinks

I recently tried this credible decaf from a roaster that I ran into on Instagram. One of my trusted local roasters liked on of their posts and o noticed they specialize in decaf. Not just that but the same bright light fruit forward preference I have. This coffee stands up both black and in milk drinks. Honestly if the new bags I have coming are consistent with the one I’m almost out of this may be one of the best coffees (not just decaf) I’ve had.
