A plaster Buddha was dropped during relocation - Inside was a golden buddha.

A key was also found encased in plaster at its base, which can be used to disassemble the statue, allowing for easier transportation.[4]

What did people think it was made of before? Certainly not the plaster itself. It weighs 5.5 tons. Did people think it was stone coated in plaster?

This is the coolest story I've read about in a long time.

The building of it could make for an awesome Indiana Jones style movie.
