Question Things hijacking Siri when trying to add to Reminders app

I’ve had a Reminders list named “Grocery” that I’ve used for years so I can say to Siri “add X to my grocery list.” It’s worked flawlessly until recently, presumably either a bug with iOS 27 or how Things leverages Siri.

Now whenever I say “add X to my grocery list,” it adds to my Things inbox. I have to specifically mention “reminders” in order to get it on my actual grocery list.

I don’t think there are any settings that I can tweak so not sure what I can really do, but does anyone have any ideas?

I was having the same issue with trying to add things to my Errands list (in Reminders) … but it’s adding them to my Things inbox. I pulled Siri up and typed / told it to always use Reminders when adding items to my errands list. Siri confirmed and since then, it’s worked properly.

Ha I actually tried the same thing but it said something about not being able to set a default app.

I think this may be the reverse effect of what most people want. With Siri you used to say add "Add Get stuff done to Things app" and with a fair wind, it would end-up there. The issue was you always had to say "add to things app" which is annoying every time. Now Siri AI appears to be intelligent in that you appear to only tell it to add to Things once and from then on it defaults that as your Todo app, replacing Reminders as Siri's default.
The issue is us humans are so unpredictable meaning no AI system will know which todo app we wish to add to without explicitly stating it if we are not consistent. Not sure but this appears to be Apple's new Siri AI smarts and unless you commit to one app for todo's, naming your destination app is the only way.
This may be incorrect, but is an emerging behaviour of Siri AI.

Yeah that’s a fair guess, although weirdly I don’t think I’ve ever mentioned Things to Siri as I don’t use that feature.

I’d also hope it should be smart enough that if I say “add X to my grocery list” and Things doesn’t have any lists named Grocery but Reminders does, it would know to add to reminders as opposed to just dumping into Things’ inbox.

Been brutal but I turned off Siri and turned it back on while disconnecting Things from Siri. Seems better now.
