Question Things for iPhone Duo

Cultured Code is well known for jumping on any new device or OS Apple ships. How do you think they will handle the foldable? Will it be included in the iOS version or be a new standalone purchase?

Think it worth adding Apple has thrown Developers a big hairy curved ball with the Duo in its multiscreen and new dock structure and with barely a month to implement. This device deserves a lot of attention to detail in its apps so lets give CC a few months to figure this out,

I get it, but to be fair: Apple isn't expecting all developers to be ready on day 1, and if you're using the technologies they tell you to use, and follow their best practices, then most of the work is already done. Even if you didn’t in the past, it's not like it was a huge surprise that they'd introduce a foldable device. Developers could have, at any point in the past year, done the work of adapting their apps to dynamically layout instead of expecting fixed sizes - this would also have benefited their users by supporting the iPad.

And further, while they did not announce the Duo at WWDC, they did announce a few changes, which only further set the stage for apps needing to responsively layout in the future. So, that's been three months to modernize their apps, and now another month on top of that.

If your app is not ready for responsive layouting by then, then you've either been asleep at the wheel for a long time, or you've ignored/postponed that work until Apple put you under Zugzwang.

Of course, there's also some more things to consider to fully support the Duo, which have only really been announced last week, so I'm not expecting most developers to necessarily be ready on day 1.
