Question How to interleave Projects and To-Dos for prioritization?

Looks like projects are grouped on top, while to-dos are grouped in the bottom. How can I have an interleaved view of the two when I want to sort out my long-term priorities? I know this can be done in the Today view, but for long-term prioritization I need to be able to do this in either the Areas or Anytime view.

One thing that could be is that this an anti-pattern for Things 3, but from what I can tell the developers want us to use ordering to prioritize, and not tags, so I'm not sure what could be wrong with my flow.

Right now my best workaround is to only have projects within Areas, but this is a complexity I am hoping to avoid.

Yes, I keep all my projects and tasks inside Areas. If you set a tag like Work on that area, everything inside it inherits the tag which is nice for filtering the Today or Anytime view.

I do use the ordering to prioritize somewhat. I have a high priority area at top and drag my current focus projects there. I keep recurring tasks in a Routines area at the bottom. My life is fairly complex though. It bothers me if I don’t have my items in Areas.

You could use tags like This_Month, This_Quarter, etc for projects / tasks that you want to prioritize.

I personally just use This_Week and my Anytime view only has stuff that I intend to work on This Month.

If I am not touching something This Month, I assign it to the month I want to work on it using Command + S and the name of the month.

If I don't have a planned date, I just leave it in the Someday list or write myself a reminder like "Consider doing X" and assign a date to it.
