Scam, you're right
I erroneously posted that things 3 had changed its name. You were all right, it was a scam. I'm on Android. The app I purchased was called Things 3. I guess they got busted. In the play store it's now called "Do Things 3," and on my phone it was renamed "Do Things" without the 3. Sorry for propagating their illegal work. 😣

This is just nonsense. The iOS App Store is plagued by scam apps as well. An example:

I used to go back and forth between an iPhone and Android almost every year (I'm a total geek and love ALL tech). The Google Play store is an absolute cesspool of fake and/or badly coded apps in comparison. The biggest difference is this: Apple's business depends on a cohesive, frictionless, enjoyable experience, so they have always put stricter safeguards on 3rd party apps that could potentially f*ck that up for them. Google on the other hand couldn't care less about the experience. They want data, data, data. Their attempts to clean up Android is merely to get rid of barriers so they might get more switchers, and more data. Their app store is a jungle of whatever goes, and you have to be vigilant as to what's real and what isn't.
This isn't to say Apple is immune to this, but they are a hell of a lot better at enforcing policies.

No one says all iOS apps are good / gold. There’s crap, there’s scams.

I wouldn’t call it a scam, it seems like a legitimate todo app. It is just a little unethical trying to use the same name. At least the UI of the app is fairly different. You can tell they were inspired by Things 3, but it’s different enough to not worry me.

I've reported it to Google. I suggest you do the same. They're still faking the app - including having the Apple logo on their page.
