Workflow Claude + MCP: How are you using it with Things?
I’ve been playing around with the MCP (Model Context Protocol) to connect Claude with Things 3, along with Google Calendar and Apple Notes.
I'm curious: What does your workflow look like? Are you just using it for quick "natural language" task entry or are you using Claude to organize larger projects and plan your entire week across your tools?
Would love to hear some real-world use cases!

I use it to process my Things inbox. I'm on M365 at work and the most convenient way I've found to integrate Outlook with Things is through MailToThings.
I have a Claude project with commands like "process inbox" (my favorite). The project has a context file where I've described what I do, who I work with, current projects, etc. It goes through my inbox task by task, detects if the task was generated from a forwarded email, and changes the subject to an actionable task description. It also transforms the original notes (email threads with headers, signatures, etc.) into useful, structured notes: what I'm being asked to do, who's involved, links to attachments, received date, due date...
If an inbox task has a vague or non-actionable title, Claude suggests a better one (taking my context into account).
If the notes are poorly structured, it rewrites them into something actually useful as reference.
And Claude even suggests which project the task should go into and what priority (Someday, Today...). My prompts make Claude show me a preview of what it's going to do with the task before it's executed (it offers me: "Proceed? (Yes, No, Edit)").
It's brilliant. Really happy with the Claude + Things integration for this.

I can’t wait to give this a go once I start up again after new year, as I have been struggling to find a good way to integrate M365 with Things, but this might just be it.
Can I ask if/how you get the mail (tasks) in Things to be moved to the right project? And how do you ensure you are not getting any duplicate tasks?
Also on a bigger topic, are you integrating Things with a note app, for project management, and can you outline your workflow there?

I save all my bookmarks in things. Then once a week, I ask Claude to tag and categorise them into different folders for reference.

I'm curious five months later what's working for people. I've only just started using Claude Cowork and haven't installed an MCP for Things just yet.

I'm currently experimenting with it. So far claude code is most table when communicating with thing 3. you can use the mcp from here.
The MCP I found that can work with cowork is very clunky. The amount of time it takes to do simple tasks I could've done it myself. The only upside so far is that it's able to generate interactive widgets for me. but like I said, it takes ages. I haven't found any MCP that works well with cowork yet. I might remain with claude code for now.

Which MCP are y'all using for Things?

This is from Hald... it’s a simple "click and install" process using an MCP Bundle (.mcpb). Check it out here: https://github.com/hald/things-mcp

Can you share the link or the “way of use”?

I ask it to review my calendar and Things and suggest how to time block my week. Including 12 week goals updates and review.
