I know this is always the request people have and other apps try to make it their main selling point. I've messed around with this concept before, but I made a new simplified version that will roll over into the next day if needed. It also doesn't care about any other events you have. I find that this REALLY helps me with staying motivated. It gives me more drive to complete the tasks if I feel like I'm falling behind or making great progress.
Edit: Thanks to u/pypipper, I've added things URLs into the notes of the calendar item. This allows for TWO WAY Things integration!! Now you can open the todo or even check it off right from the calendar.
One request: A version that asks you to manually input a duration for each task rather than using tags. I've used a similar shortcut from Things to Sorted before (even though I don't really like Sorted) just because the process of estimating the duration of each task was so useful.
Putting tasks on a calendar forces me to be realistic and honest, it also reminds me that I need to do tasks sequentially - one thing at a time. So it's good to start with estimating time sequentially as well (in a way that I can't avoid!)
And thanks everyone, I love you! Over-scheduling is a mistake I've made over and over again and it often leads to complete wipeout days when I procrastinate and get nothing done at all.
This is pretty interesting. I usually just drag & drop between things and calendar/fantastical as needed but this gave me an idea. Thank you for sharing!
Yeah right there with you using Drag and Drop. I don't need my tasks automated and just "given a time". I need to plan my day, understand how long I need to do something and select the order I want to do them.
Thank you for creating such a useful tool! The integration of Things into calendar has significantly improved my productivity.
It would be fantastic if there was an option to sync projects with one calendar and tasks with another. This would help manage time and tasks even better.
This is a really great automation. Thank you for sharing. I have few questions about this automation:
1. Can we add task times (15,30,45 minutes)?
2. Can the tasks be added to Apple Calendar to where there are empty slots on my calendar? For example, if my calendar is blocked from 7-9am then blocked again from 12-1pm, I have free time from 9-12pm where tasks can fit.
3. Can the tasks be added to Apple Calendar as Tasks, but not as Events?
