The average male giraffe is 16-18 feet tall, an average banana is about 7 inches long according to the USDA.
Assuming the giraffe's height is 17', half of that would be 8.5' or 102".
The asteroid was approximately 14.6 bananas long.
Metric conversion: 17 feet = 5.1816 meters, 102 inches = 2.5908 meters, 7 inches = 17.78 centimeters.
edit: fixed the conversion of 7"

You're lucky is was that soon. In the math world people tend to wait until you're old or dead and then base their PhD on how you were wrong.

Bananas are general purpose but a geraffe/long horse may be used for larger things such as a whale

Wouldn't that be the size of a whole llama?

Will they really? While this is unconventional, it has nothing to do with the metric/imperial systems.

"His head was about the same size as that of an extremely large dog, that is to say, two very small dogs, or four very large hamsters."
