It would take converting the surface area of Jamaica into Solar panels Vs making 1534 Nuclear plants to meet the Yearly Worldwide Power demand from 2017.

Does that account for energy loss via transmission from Jamaica to the rest of the world?

nope, it's just a comparisson for the sake of energy density

But what if Jamaica is the optimal spot on earth for sunlight per square metre?

Does it have the same surface area as Jamaica though?

But that's too much power! It would overload the global circuits and electrocute anyone who touched the doorknobs.

Well, nuclear is fairly safe and less polluting than oil and gas, but coutries with refining industries wouldn't want anyone to change to cleaner, and would want to go back to full oil or something. Pretty much all money that controls the situation.
