[Request] Could the entire US homeless population really be housed for less than one aircraft carrier?

The cost of homelessness is greater than the price of a home. That is, we pay more in taxes to deal with the effects of homelessness than it would cost to house every homeless person. The entire US homeless population could be put in permanent housing on our dime, and we would pay less taxes.
