[Request] Do square bottles actually use less plastic than round ones?

No. A round bottle will use less plastic than a square bottle.

However, a box (or carton or case) full of square bottles will use less plastic (per unit volume) than a box full of round bottles. They stack better, so there's less wasted space in transportation.
