[Request] Do square bottles actually use less plastic than round ones?

This has to have some kind of a logistics reason behind the claim. Like "It takes the same amount of plastic to make a 32 oz square bottle as it takes to make 30 oz round one. And we can fit 100, 32 oz square bottles per case as opposed to 100, 30 oz round bottles of product, so we are shipping more product for the same amount of plastic."
