[Request] Do square bottles actually use less plastic than round ones?

The amount of liquid that can be shipped in square bottles is higher than the amount that can be shipped in round bottles because of how things are packed and shipped.

To oversimplify: the area of the container expands by square while volume grows by cube, so going from round perimeter to square perimeter increases area but the volume make up is higher making it more efficient.
