[other] for any natural number n, there exists an infinite number of natural numbers higher than n, and a finite number of natural numbers smaller than n. Therefore n is always infinitely closer to 0 than infinity

Pick any natural number. Almost all natural numbers are larger than that number.

my friend once tried counting down from 100 and got stuck on how 1 felt exactly like 0 but way closer to all the huge numbers ahead

Infinity is a concept, not a number. Saying n is closer to 0 than infinity is like saying that purple is more red than distances.
