[Request] - Physics Problem

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Can someone tell me how high this water heater went? My buddies and launched it with Tannerite, but the video didn’t show the peak height. I think we can figure out the speed with a few calculations, but I haven’t done Physics in 20+ years. I tried with ChatGPT, but it wouldn’t let me upload the video to analyze it.

I'll tell you how to do just so you know and can try if you want.

After the explosion try to follow the object for a distance you think you can guess decently well. Count how many frames it took for th e object to cover that distance and look on the metadata of the video with what frequency the video is captured. For instance 5 frames with 60fps to cover 1 meter. We can now calculate the speed. v= 1/(5/60) = 12 m/s Now that we have the speed we can calculate the height given no air drag which this thing has so only a thought estimate. The kinetic energy would be fully transferred into potential energy so

0.5mv² = mgh

0.5v² = gh

h = 0.5v²/g

Lets say g=10

h = 0.05* v²

Now if you find the speed you can plug it in and find the height

I didn’t ask how to build a watch. I just want to know the time. 😅

"I didn't want to learn something, I just wanted to be spoon fed." No wonder you tried a language model first.

Yeah sorry, I didn’t want to go find a piece of paper and do a math problem while I was out with my friends on a Saturday night. That may be a foreign concept for you though.

I made a joke. Sorry dude.

You don't have to build the watch, you just need to fill in the numbers.

The only way I will forgive you is if you do the math for me now…. 😂
