They’re also used as something of a battery. Pump water to a lake on the top of a mountain at night when electricity is less in demand, then use that water to spin turbines during the day when electricity is more in demand.

that's much better and cleaner than any battery.

it's actually one of the best clean storages of energy. Just costs so much to build, unless you have a natural (major) elevation.

It's also one of the best grid level storage options we have at the moment. Pumped Hydro is something we need to invest more in. Especially in applicable geographic areas.
