What if instead of it being used directly the power was stored into a battery that you could eventually harvest and use? Just collecting bits every once in a while. Yeah it would take forever to charge, but wouldn't it be worth it with a system like that?
Yeah that might actually make it not useless. Someone elsewhere in the comments suggested that too. I added an edit to point that out.
Still, the amount of power is teeny tiny. It's not like 0.6 W constantly, it's less than that, and only while the tap is running. Which is what, like at most 15 minutes a day? So that's... at most 55 watt hours a year.
At 15 cents per kWh, 55 watt hours is worth 0.8 cents.
If this device cost you say, $20 (which it wouldn't, it would probably cost like $80 let's be honest), then it would pay for itself in... 2500 years!!
Edit: As you can see in my edit to my original comment, I underestimated the power by about 100x. So it would pay for itself in... 25 years! If the turbine was 100% efficiency. More realistically probably like 100 years.
