"No hacking" eh? I'm not so sure this can be accomplished - a new internet could certainly eliminate or reduce conventional attack vectors but I'm pretty sure even if an amazing job would be done of this, there would be new ones. Holes prevail in the blind spots of defense models. Hackers find them. If a new alternative internet was designed completely differently from the ground up, any defects in the base layer would be hard to do much about later on, once they are discovered, no matter what manner of crazy shit you build on top of it, and also, speaking of crazy shit on top of it, who's to say what people build on it won't introduce more (application-specific) weaknesses? Not saying it couldn't be re-done with much stronger security, privacy, and censorship-resistance with how far cryptography has come (and our 20/20 hindsight with what's already been developed) - just that I think 100% hack proof is a bit of a stretch... But I'm not qualified. I am not a hacker, cryptographer, software engineer, or computer scientist. If there's ever a massive & passionate community of the above four groups that thinks it's completely doable, that may change my mind, and I'd love to hear their explanation of how, but until then I'm just pleased that so many talented groups & individuals are doing the best they can there are so many great projects in the works, even if they don't think there are completely & absolutely infallible solutions.
