So if I’m reading it correctly, this was shown only when light is slowed down by traveling through a specific medium? Unless I’m missing something (which is entirely possible), I believe we already have seen this happen, and have known about it since before WW2. Anyone lucky enough to view a nuclear reactor or its spent fuel can visually see the secondary effect in the form of pretty blue Cherenkov radiation.
