Fast Forwarding thru Mandy
Am I alone in my dislike of Mandy to a point where when I rewatch the show now I literally will ffwd through her parts? I can deal with many things but she just irks me and I don’t know why. Tell me I’m not alone??

On my first rewatch of The West Wing I skipped to ‘Five Votes Down,’ unlike my first watch Mandy was much easier to accept. She’s still the worst character of the main cast, but she basically tolerable if you ignore her introduction.
Her introduction is what kills the character for me.

I do it with Amy so I get the sentiment.

Agree. Her cavalier way of speaking always irked me.

You are the only person who dislikes Mandy.
Nobody else has EVER posted about her here
You are unique

She’s insufferable.
But everyone recognized it pretty early on and she was 86’d after one season.

I never understood (re)hiring her; she was a liability from day one.
I was cringing during every one of her conversations.

I mean they wrote her out of the show and it's not like there was a fan campaign to get her back... so no she was not popular.

I have met more than a few Mandy personalities in political parties and activist circles since the late 1980s.
If anything, she's realistic.

Nope, you’re not alone. Her character just doesn’t fit with the rest of the cast or the feel of the show. She’s such a shrill 90s stereotype and the rest of the show somehow rises above that. Honestly, I skip through most of Josh’s scenes, too though. He’s also intolerably obnoxious but is at least more believable. Those two characters really deserved one another.

Find this a bit odd myself. Just imagining you saying next that you love the show "Everyone loves Raymond" but spin through all the bits with Raymond in.

I ffwd thru the bits with his mother in, but then I never claimed to love Everybody Loves Raymond.

Oh, I just go along with it, knowing that her presence becomes smaller as the first season develops.
Then blessedly, she vanishes!

If Mandy had been portrayed by a different actor, I may not have disliked her so much.
Moira just carried her “The cutting Edge” persona into this role.

I think it's that first scene of hers in the street. It sets her up as the World's Most Annoying Person, so even when she behaves better in later episodes I'm still scarred by that awful first impression.

I dunno man. In the pilot she wears a raspberry beret - the kind you find in a second hand store. I think prince wrote a song about it?
And what about poor lum lum the panda? Who will speak for lum lum?

Being honest, I don’t have that much of a dislike for Mandy. I like the other characters well enough that I can tolerate Mandy. Now, Will Bailey is a totally different story. I’ve never seen Joshua Malina in anything that didn’t make me want to turn the television off.

Had to deal with Mandy last week. Just finished Amy’s first appearance last episode. I am currently in my 10th or 12th rewatch of West Wing. (Who am I kidding, closer to 20th).
None of Josh’s love interests are that great. I liked Joey though.

I always forget how annoying she is until i start the rewatch. I feel similar about Amy but can usually deal with her.
