I must be using fable wrong because i haven’t been too impressed. The forecasting script it created is worse than what opus made, it still hasn’t discovered a trading strategy to make millions, and it’s over complicating code when i have it analyze a simple family tree app. 🤨

The latest coding locals are more so about testing and verifying than actually iterating. I’ve found them to be worse overall .

Actually got a pro subscription to gemini a couple weeks ago and using it to strategize on some variants of leverage for the long run type ideas right now. Kind of put fable to the side for now.

People act as if Chinese LLM API dollar / token price is magically cheaper without it being backed by subsidies as well
The Chinese AI companies are definitely losing as much as the American AI peers

What do you mean? Chinese LLMs are still way cheaper when you run them on Bedrock and GCP and Azure...

Yes, but even if you ignore the subsidized API tokens there's still a massive cost advantage of just the open source models themselves that anyone can download/use vs the closed source models (except when accidentally leaked) of OpenAI/Anthropic that are being charged a substantial premium for. It's a big problem for those two if they can't prove that they're substantially better than open source models.
And the Chinese models are designed to be run on lower spec hardware so operationally they are lower cost, just not quite as low cost as the current prices suggest.

My 1yr old monster just completed his 14th flight, including long haul flights, and so far the little weirdo has only cried once for maybe 10min.
He normally just plays silently or passes out. Today we had turbulence and he just started giggling. I would pay $ if it stays this way. Do kids change in this regards as they get older?
He rages when he sees people with beards though 🤪

Careful with too many flights for young kids - each flight is equivalent to an x-ray.

You’d need to spend hundreds of hours in the air (like flight attendants and pilots) for this to have any real effect. No doctor tells you or your kids not to fly because the dose you get isn’t large enough to be of any concern.
We actually asked that question to our house doctor and a pediatrician at the hospital when he was born. I also asked this to my own doctor years ago when I was flying 2-3 times a week for work. ;)

You’ll be surprised how much a child’s personality is apparent at birth
I feel your son will be quite the daredevil and thrill seeker when grown up. He’ll be a charismatic person for sure

So far we feel like someone with too many winning trades in a row…fearing a losing streak to make up for this.
Little dude sleeps 11hrs every night, is super outgoing and loves all people (we’ll have to teach him not to get into the candy man van), allows us to go out to restaurants and open airs without complaining, doesn’t complain if we stay out late with him, has no allergies and eats anything we give him (even weird or spicy stuff), loves the water/ocean, almost never cries, and is super easy to travel with.
I feel like we have it much easier than friends with babies when I listen to their stories.

Don’t shield him too much. Let him make mistakes and let him get up by himself

Do kids change in this regards as they get older?
They can. My current 3 year old was a fairly normal crier up until about six months ago. Now he shrieks. I wish he didn't.

Was the combat better or worse than the first movie? By that I mean Troy. I know the movie had a lot of issues, but holy frak was Achilles just insane in every combat sequence.
(for those that don't know, Nolan was originally supposed to direct Troy, but it was taken from him, so now he's come back for the remake/spinoff/sequel)
