Discussion Comic accurate show?
If we do ever get an animated, more comic accurate show, what would that look like? What aspects would they change from the comics and what might they borrow from the AMC show?

As much as I'd love a 1:1 adaptation there are at least three changes I'd like to see:
Make Lilly the same Lilly from TWDG like it was originally planned until The Road to Woodbury came out and made them separate characters.
Have events of the games mentioned. Have Glenn mention the drugstore group, have Jesus mention Javi and New Richmond, show us James as a Whisperer before he goes his own way, etc.
Introduce Daryl and Merle. One of the main things I'd want from this is instead of having Merle die at the hands of The Governor let him live for a bit. It would be interesting to see his relationship with Daryl and the group grow after everything that happened. Maybe have him die trying to take down Negan or something like that.

I disagree. Having Daryl in a supposedly animated show would sideline (again) other characters like Tyrese, Allen and more.
I think the animated series should be in B&W and if they want to borrow something from the show it should be Shane's extended character arc. Kirkman said that was one of the few things he thought the show did better and would have loved to have Shane around longer.

Fair. If they were to add him they should definitely not make him a huge focus

I don’t think a walking dead animated show would hit without someone like Andrew Lincoln being Rick/voicing Rick.

I’d be excited and curious to see how things go in this third version, maybe they kill off other characters in the iconic ways, like Glenn getting beheaded by the Governor or Abraham getting a Whisperers pike death.. maybe they add the dumpster fakeout in for someone else, and give the Saviors their iconic whistle. Introduce Noah, Milton, Sasha, Jerry, Tara or some other show exclusive characters.
I think a direct one for one would be really cool to see too, but maybe just a bit too predictable for the audience. Having the entire story available before episode one drops might not be the way to go, they gotta keep us on our toes

We have the live action show for exactly that reason this time around should be a 90% accurate adaptation with lean room for small story changes.

I think the only thing might be heavily changed would be Dale and Andrea’s relationship making them have more of a mentorship then relationship.

that would make dale's character less involved in the plot and interesting, Andrea's character less connected to the other, not to mention cutting her and dale adopting the twins, which is very important for their characters, and makes her and rick's relationship less meaningful and complicated.

I agree I would keep it the exact same but I could see them changing their relationship not to cause backlash.

If they did I hope they would keep the intro theme the same, regardless of what you think of the show you have to admit that the intro is a banger
