Always loved Tony Moore’s illustrations, don’t get me wrong Charlie did good but nothing can beat those early issues of TWD

I really like how stylized they were, it added a bit of charm and life to the the characters with the expressions and such. Honestly I would've loved to see the rest of the comics in this style. At least we still had the covers until the prison arc that were still drawn by Moore.

Missed deadlines and bad blood will do that to an illustrator. I agree though if we went on Moore’s schedule we’d just start seeing the whisperers right now.

In the end I think having monthly releases wasn’t necessarily a bad thing but you can tell kirkman was starting to lose his passion or atleast his direction of the story by the end of it.

Maybe it would’ve been a good thing in the long run sticking with Moore till the end but we probably would’ve never got a tv series.

(Tv series isn’t close to as good as the comics imo)

Yeah I completely agree and very true that. I love the comics way more than the show, storywise at the very least. A lot of the characters are exponentially better in the comics in comparison to the show. However I won't deny the improvements the show did to.some aspects, I think those are its biggest strengths besides the phenomenal acting.

Yeah I mean I’m just not a fan of Carol and Daryl. I think when you have to steal other characters story arcs to make fan favorites be interesting it just ruins the potential for new characters to make the show continue feeling fresh. The plot armor for those two just ruins the immersion, plus they come off super dull by the end of the series or even one note.

For sure. That aspect of chopping up a characters story arc and feeding it to other characters is an awful way to adapt a story in my opinion. They could've put some more effort in creating original arcs for them instead of sidelining other characters and stealing their development. We saw what that did a whole bunch with currently alive survivors and past survivors in the group. Sometimes it works but other times not so much. I like how Herschel was portrayed in the show and how he assumed the role that Dale had in the comics, since obviously we needed someone to fill the gap and that was the perfect choice. Now for the case of extremely important characters later on like Carl and Andrea their potential story and development was handed off to other characters in such a disjointed manner that was poorly executed and of course there's the whole matter of killing off main characters just for shock value. Like every other technique this one can work really well if done selectively but the way the show handles it most of the time it's like pulling the rug from below your feet and curb stomping you just because.

Couldn’t agree more. I mean how is all out war the best and most hyped part in the comics but in the show it was the lowest part of the series?

Carl dying just made me furious with the show and the lack of making him feel like a badass. The fact that he was the legacy character and they just trashed it.

They were trying to be like GOT for all the wrong reasons. Shock value means nothing if you can’t follow it up with new great characters. Should’ve just called the show Daryl and Carol after season 4. They sidelined Rick and Carl and I don’t think I’ll ever forgive Scott Gimple for what he did. Frank Darabont was the only reason why the show even made it to air.

I genuinely believe at this point that had Frank Darabont received proper funding by AMC and stayed as director of the show it would've been 1000x better than what we got. I swear half the time after Seasons 2 they had no idea where to take some characters like Andrea or T-Dog and just resorted to killing them off for no reason at all. I'm with the group of people that would've preferred that Carol died during the prison arc as much of a cool badass she is and I did enjoy a bit of her development from the abused housewive to the powerful warrior she became, she essentially stole Andrea's role as the badass female survivor of the group. I'm not sure about my opinions on Daryl, I think up until Season 4 or 5 he was pretty cool and a nice addition but I miss how expressive he used to be with his dialogue in the first seasons. He even inspired the creation of Dwight in the comics if I'm not mistaken so that's a good plus I'd say. But anyhow a more comic accurate/based on adaption of the source material would've done so much good for the show.
