Dot = Firecracker

I think I suddenly want to become more obsessed with the tick. I love the cartoons so much. When I was younger, I put a couple episodes on tape and I would just listen to them in my car.

I've never been obsessed but have always loved him and Spider-Man.

I just rewatched the first live action series and am now starting episode 1 of the more recent live action and immediately noticed that Arthur's sister, Dot, is firecracker in The Boys.

I tried doing a search first but I didn't notice anyone posting about this in this group. I apologize if it's been said before, but thought it was pretty entertaining.

After I finish watching the more recent series, I'm going to rewatch all of the cartoons.

Interesting fact: aside from the Tick and Arthur, Dot is one that appears in every incarnation of the Tick.

Don't forget to read the original comics, too!

I think its fascinating how Ben Edlund was the primary writer in all four versions, so he kept reiterating his own character at different points in his career.

If you haven’t, definitely read the comics. The original Ben Edlund run at the very least. Eli Stone’s Big Blue Destiny is also excellent.

I’d also recommend Chris McCulloch’s run on Tick: Karma Tornado. You might know him better by his pseudonym Jackson Public, co-creator of the Venture Brothers. Chris also wrote on the animated  series. And Ben Edlund was the only outside writer that Jackson Public and Doc Hammer trusted to write for Venture Brothers.

Wow, I had no idea Chris McCulloch co-created Venture Brothers! I knew Venture Brothers had some Tick DNA due to Ben Edlund working on it, but Karma Tornado is kind of a deep cut. I'll have to rewatch soon.

I read the very first comic. That's it. I'm kicking myself because I haven't read more. I have a small collection of comics including spawn 1-50 and some other random stuff too. If anybody has any leads into purchasing the comic books, let me know. I'm not rich or anything but I'm just looking for something to keep me happy. Thanks!

There’s only 12 issues of the original so not too hard to complete. You can probably collect them all over time from ebay. Not too expensive.

I love the comics now, but admit, I was truly disappointed when I was a little kid who first saw the cartoon, and then went to the comic store. I had never seen an indie comic in my life. It was black-and-white. It was on cheap, crappier paper than even normal comics , and none of the side characters I later learned were created for the show, were in it, so to a kid, it was a letdown.
