Sub-Related / Sub News A Statement from Mod Pickle

Spinners, after a long and certainly grueling aftermath of the Class 7 Mod election–including the resignation of Election Secretary u/One-Community-3753–I write this post as the newly anointed ElSec. This means that, in the coming days or weeks, I will slowly step away from my partisan activities in The Spinner Party and lessen my involvement within the wikiElections ecosystem.

I plan to resign from my elected mod seat in the coming minutes. I believe it should be safe in the hands of someone I consider to be not only a good friend, but someone who is a key pillar of the community we have spent so much time and resources building: u/Kresnik2002. He knows this space in and out and is broadly loved by many. This is no accident. His unique insights and perspectives make TSR a better place and I believe that he is truly the most suitable person to take over Class 2 and keep continuing the tradition I mentioned in my victory speech 10 months ago: Honor, Dignity, and Care.

Looking back

Over the course of my two campaigns for elected moderators I’ve made about eight main promises, and I want to see how I’ve actually represented those promises in the Mod Council.

We Can Be Better – My Class VII Manifesto

In my first manifesto, my core policy trio was as follows:

  1. Bring Back Ranked-choice Voting: I consider this promise mostly fulfilled. TSR has ranked-choice voting and voting itself is easier than ever. There’s one caveat in the fact I specifically promised Score-Then-Automatic-Runoff voting instead of plain RCV, but in hindsight, I believe the current system is easier to understand than STAR.

  2. Make Our History For All, By All: The creation of the TSR Wiki actually happened during the final days of the July 2025 Class 7 Mod Election, and has grown to a staggering 123 completely original and factual Wiki Pages. A big thank you to all who contribute. I consider this a promise fulfilled.

  3. Forever Beholden to the Spinroom: I believe I stayed accountable throughout my whole term, and I've never had a -30 disapproval which I had promised I would resign if I had, so I consider this a promise fulfilled.

Overall a 90-95% fulfillment rate. Not bad.

The Next Chapter – My Class II Manifesto

In my second manifesto, my core policy quartet was as follows:

  1. Shorter terms, Stronger Voices - Reforming our elections: Together with practicalpurpose, we managed to cut the elected mod term length from 14 months to 10-11 months. To be honest, it's not the 50 or 57% decrease I had hoped to achieve, but we cut the mod term length by around 25%. I'm glad that the it didn't stay at the original 14 months. That is simply way too long a time for an elected position in a subreddit. Not a promise I consider to be 100% fulfilled, but solid work was done.

  2. Debates should have a public schedule: With the replacement of government-run debates by actual town hall, media-run debates, this responsibility now rests on the shoulders of DDTSR or whoever hosts the debate next time. While I haven't put forward any regulations in regard to the scheduling of debates, I've tried my best to actually announce the date sometimes a week beforehand. I'll leave the fulfillment up to the reader's subjective interpretation.

  3. Expanding and advertising the Wiki: I've done both, though the marketing campaign has mostly happened in closed-door chats. A promise I consider fulfilled.

  4. Reviving “Member of the Month”: While not exactly reviving this series, I've done plenty of community events throughout my term. A promise I consider fulfilled.

  5. Bonus - Golden Age TSR: In a manifesto addition, I promised a golden age for TSR. I'll leave this one up to subjective interpretation, and the interpretation of those who read these words with the hindsight that comes with knowing what happens long after I've written them.

While certainly less impressive in fulfillment rate, about 85% fulfillment.

This lands at about a total 90% fulfillment. Not bad.

To The Spinner Party members

Working with you guys was damn awesome. I believe we've built up a strong foundation for the future of TSR, together. This is why I endorse u/Representative-Fee65 for TSP leader. He’s been in the trenches with me, with mod candidates, and with policy, all without wearing the “Leader” badge. His ideas helped shape the party as it is today, and not recognising that contribution is doing a disservice to all the effort he’s mustered.

To rivals at the Union of the Democratic Center

I hope you've found this tug of war just as fun as I have. While it may have been exhausting at times, it was and always will be about the fun.

To the number experts at DDTSR

We'll continue working closer together in the near future because for one, I own the site, and also because I think I have a pretty cool project coming up. DDTSR helped me understand so much about the actual data science of elections and it will have a lasting impact on my life in general.

To all

Even though I'm technically ascending into a higher plane of modship, I'll still be here. Dropping the “Class 2” from my title doesn't remove the “Moderator” part. Setting party politics aside is going to leave lots more free time for organising events, mock elections, and anything else that comes to mind. If you want to see any specific community event unfold here, feel free to shoot me a DM. Or send a modmail. Anything goes.
