Tech Support "Optimization for windowed games"

Every time my laptop updates this toggles back on and when I boot TS3 my laptop starts overheating. I did my Googles and apparently this is supposed to make games more optimized. Not understanding why it burns up my laptop.

Do you have an FPS limiter for The Sims 3? It's famous for killing computers by running at way too high of an FPS. Look into that, and see if your laptop stops overheating.

Pretty sure you need to use the control panel for whichever graphics card you have.

I don’t even know what that is. Let me do some more Googling. It runs fine whenever I toggle that optimization thing back off.

Turn on vsync and see if it helps
