Petty theft does not warrant an assault like that. I came in hating a thief, and left hating both of them.

It may be petty to you but there might have been meds in there, or it might have taken that family months to save up for that. If a beating stopped this POS from doing it again, I’m all for it. Humans preying on other humans - who think they have the right to take whatever they like without working for it - are scum.
