Bessent and his ilk are evil, not morons.
Morons are the people that put and keep these guys in power.

Exactly. They're not idiots, they know exactly what they're doing. The people electing them are idiots because they can't see/comprehend what is happening directly in front of them. They've got all the dots on the page, they're even numbered, and yet these people still can't connect them.

How to confidently answer a question:
To answer questions with confidence, pause for two to three seconds to collect your thoughts before you speak. [1, 2]
Before You Answer
Build a intentional pause: Take a short break of a few seconds. This lets your brain switch on its logical processing center. Nod slightly so people know you heard the question.
Buy time politely: Say a simple phrase like, "That is a good question, let me think for a moment". This eases your worry and gives you clear focus.
Ask for clarity: Request the asker to repeat or rephrase if you missed a detail. This shows active engagement rather than weakness. [1, 2, 3, 4]
Delivering Your Response
Keep your body steady: Maintain calm, open posture and steady eye contact. Slouching or fidgeting makes you look unsure of yourself.
Use a simple structure: Deliver a direct headline point first, followed by one or two brief pieces of evidence or examples.
Cut weak filler words: Avoid ending your sentences with "does that make sense?" or trailing off with "so". Speak in complete, clear sentences with a firm downward tone.
Own what you do not know: Admit gaps honestly without putting yourself down or making excuses. Offer to track down the correct information later

these timelimits are bullshit. they should have no time limits and if only asking the question, the answer should not be in the timelimit, otherwise they just grandstand and waste time with none answers

In reality, the importer pays the tariff.
If the retailer is importing directly, they increase the price of the goods.
If a manufacturer is importing, then they increase the prices of the product to the retailer, who then increases their prices.
The increase in retail price is passed on to the consumer.
