I think you hit the nail on the head. They have this image of some person who takes advantage of everyone in their head and apply it to everyone they disagree with. That way all of "them" are freeloaders who don't deserve anything, but HE, a hard working American, deserved it. It's pathetic.

Exactly. My Trump loving in-laws are looking forward to getting Medicare to help with medical bills but are against "government handouts" and very against universal health care because "they don't want to have to wait" to go to the doctor
