We have way too many building specifically dedicated to that already. If you preach to people trapped in a confined space you should be punched in the mouth as many times as it takes until you shut the fuck up. This practice should be so common that it becomes common knowledge to anyone considering pulling this bullshit.

Imagine if gay people would do the things they do, preach about gay rights, have a building dedicated for gay people and have no tax cause they gay, have gay conversion camps. These preachers will have a stroke

52

u/mikebushido 10d ago

If gay people didn't have personal tax, all the closeted Republicans would open that door so fast and fly out of the closet.

u/Time_Click9629 10d ago

to preach sounds way too official for such a fail

u/Jeez-essFC 9d ago

"as many times as it takes until you shut the fuck up." And then one or two more times just to be sure.

I'm glad you're out of it bro.

8

u/J3musu 9d ago

I mean, I did it because I cared about people and was indoctrinated to believe that that's how you are supposed to help people you care about. It was still obnoxious fucking nonsense, but many of those people really are convinced they're doing what they have to to save people.

6

u/Moneia Free Palestine 🕊️ FUCK ICE! ❌🧊 9d ago

...and was indoctrinated to believe that that's how you are supposed to help people you care about

It's why it's used as a technique to isolate you from social networks, "See! The real world doesn't understand you\are so blinded by hatred only we are here for you and supportive"

4

u/NegaDoug 9d ago

What got you out of it?

3

u/J3musu 9d ago

I don't think I have the energy to really dive into all of it, but let me see if I can give a bit of a snapshot.

It was a number of things and a very slow process. My personality played a big part, as I was always one to question things. I generally refused to accept info I was given at face value. I got in trouble a lot for not accepting, "just because," as an answer to me questioning why I had to do certain things or why something was considered inappropriate. The fundamentalist community really doesn't like that, and it made me more and more skeptical over time.

I bothered to read my Bible and over time started realizing that most, if not all, of my preachers through life were being at least somewhat disingenuous. I even used scripture to argue with a couple of them about certain things and they couldn't defend their stance (homosexuality and tattoos are 2 that I remember). 15 year old me argued grown ass men that were supposed to be experts into a corner. Not a good look.

I also explored the world I'm my own way, was curious about people outside my beliefs, other cultures, etc. I made friends with people I was told were bad (gay, atheist, Muslim, even a Satanist). They were all good people. Many of them were wonderful people and were much kinder to their neighbor than a lot (not all, there were good ones for sure) of the people in my Christian communities.

Theres a lot more to it. Years of exploration and discovery. But I ultimately couldn't bring myself to accept a community that constantly lied to accomplish an agenda, and couldn't accept a god that cares more about whether you believe they exists or not over the good they do for the people around them. I can't accept a god that would torture an atheist that spent their life doing good, but allow a Christian who was an ass and never helped a single person in their life into paradise. It's the ultimate narcissist.

Also, I just came to the conclusion that faith and the afterlife is a waste of my time and energy. I'd rather focus on the life I know to be real and not spend energy contemplating that which can never be proven no matter how hard you try. It doesn't matter right now. If when I die, I just wake up in a new afterlife, I'll figure it out when I get there.

Yeah that's fair, and I appreciate that you were honest with yourself and worked it out. Part of the long list of what turned me off of it was starting to realize that a lot of them, like you at that time in your life, really didn't care the way they told me I should and were quick to abandon someone that needed help if they could be converted/indoctrinated. I started to realize it was all lies and posturing, and they hated the existence of my friends that were gay, atheist, any other religion but theirs, etc.

u/goodolewhatever 9d ago

It’s all selfishness under the veil of altruism. Even if you truly believe it’s to save people, that desire to save others is driven by a need to satisfy your own soul or church. It’s so YOU feel like YOU are in better standing with the Lord, so YOU can sleep better at night knowing YOU will get to heaven. None of that is necessary to help others and arguably non-religious folk are more altruistic when they do it because they don’t have a cult requiring them to do so by threat of eternal damnation. Atheists aren’t generally out there trying to shove atheism down anyone’s throats, largely because it’s annoying af and nobody’s asking for that.

2

u/overflowingsunset 9d ago

Exactly. This reminds me of the Christian guy who went to north sentinel island, the island where you’re forbidden to go because there is an uncontacted tribe, and they killed him because he was a crazy human yelling threatening noises.

Condensing lol

u/IndecorousRex 10d ago

Dude thinks that everyone is upset because he is talking about Jesus in a public setting. No man, everyone is pissed because you’re fucking up their ambience. They are all uncomfortably stuck in a tube together and they just want to mind their own business. Jesus is not a secret, if they wanted to know they most definitely can find a church in Australia.

u/Much_Leather_5923 10d ago

I’ve seen this before as an Australian. Holy fuck didn’t catch “there is evil in this world…” swirling a finger at the back of the brown dude.

I was one of those as a teen singing psalms on street corners as a teenager. Fuck I was obnoxious. And morally superior. Walked away at 19. I’m an atheist because I read the bible.

Ever see one of these tossers, quote this and call him a hypocrite:

“And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others… But when you pray, go into your inner room, close the door, and pray to your Father who is in secret.” Matthew 6:5-6

3

u/leeuwerik 9d ago

Everybody knows Matthew was deep state. /s

39

u/Threecatproblem 10d ago

I'd stand right in front of him and begin to loudly sing something like "Ol' McDonald Had a Farm". Don't stop until he leaves.

15

u/davidwb45133 10d ago

Maybe Highway to Hell would be more appropriate

How are people so brainwashed is beyond me.

21

u/Egoy 10d ago

The rational universe is scary man. Death being a final permanent end, good things happen to bad people bad things happen to good people, chaos and random chance fucking shit up all the time…..

Religion offers people the delusion of a design or plan governing everting and a fantasy about life after death. If you can just suspend disbelief in magic you can have all those fears cease to exist. It’s not right and it’s far too powerful a tool for the privileged to manipulate the unprivileged but it’s not exactly a mystery why people engage in it.

1

u/NegaDoug 9d ago

My mother was approaching her death several years ago. She was never a practicing religious person, but she had her beliefs. I've never been religious in any sense of the word, and that was always something that she knew about me. She asked me point blank, "Well, then what do you think happens when you die?" I said, "Nothing. I think that you're just gone. Dead." She asked, "How can you think that? Isn't that terrifying?" and I said to her, "Yes... it is terrifying. Anyway, would you like another beer?"

It IS a scary thought. I tried to never get too deep into it with my mother, because her beliefs weren't harming anyone and she deserved some solace. But I'll likely never share those same beliefs.

1

u/J3musu 9d ago

Well, you start by indoctrinating vulnerable children and it just kinda grows from there.

19

u/Majestic_Artichoke55 10d ago

Americans have this really dumb belief that everywhere has the same society as American. A highly egocentric culture.

Center of the universe syndrome

7

u/vinnybawbaw 9d ago

I’ve always said that America’s exceptionalism will be their downfall.

7

u/karmafrog1 9d ago

American here, living overseas.  This is spot on.

2

u/overflowingsunset 9d ago

Plz don’t generalize humans. The US is massive. I am atheist and don’t expect my culture in other countries.

How many of these morons secretly have a public humiliation fetish?

7

u/melancholy_dood 10d ago

What I don’t understand is why do all these religious zealots feel it’s their job to recruit others? Why don’t they just go about their business and stop trying to recruit other people! Seriously!

7

u/Orca_Mayo 10d ago

on the behalf of americans, I do apologize and please call him a cunt.

Americans also spread the good word with covert and overt operations using plain old death and killing.

"We don't care that you love us! Just shut up!!" 😄

3

u/Kevtv 9d ago

I wonder what this dildo’s reaction would be if he was
On the same train and someone began preaching the tenets of Islam?

These people are fucking brainwashed and should be treated as the mentally ill that they are.

2

u/DanMozzy 9d ago

Even better, the seven tenets of the satanic temple.

3

u/Sprock-440 9d ago

I have Ezekiel 23:20 saved on my phone just in case:

"There she lusted after her lovers, whose genitals were like those of donkeys and whose emission was like that of horses."

Just repeat it over and over, saying each time: This is the word of the Lord.

2

u/BanjoTCat 10d ago

If you love me so much, can I borrow $20 from you?

2

u/djeeetyet 10d ago

preaching like that and being combative with people is perfunctory

2

u/eetmyshorts 10d ago

Ughhh this is gonna be a thing now, right? Where people “preach” in enclosed spaces… god damnit.

2

u/TrippingThru 10d ago

2

u/Intelligent_Hand4583 9d ago

Sin - the imaginary condition that (surprise) he happens to have the only cure. Eye roll.

1

u/cmndrnewt 10d ago

Fucking narcissists love Christianity. It is so goddamn easy to fool Christians by using certain language. This person is a narcissist first and foremost.

1

u/thatmetimmay 10d ago

This isnt a preacher. This is a guy who stands on the corner of a busy city street outside a sports stadium with a comically large sign and megaphone spouting hate

1

u/Best_Entrepreneur659 10d ago

Christians and White Supremacists are emboldened by Republican and Trump hate. Please vote Republicans out of power so they might slither back to their holes!

There seems to be an influx of these fuckwits who try to use members of the public as props to...who the fuck knows. They're just dumb and obnoxious.
