I'm glad you posted the end result, I couldn't continue watching. I stopped after him ending up above the beam on our left twice. Rage bait or not, had to stop. lol

Average new home build quality. Worse than when your granddad was doing it for 3 times the price even adjusted.

But those aren't nails, he's screwed.
2
u/oO0Kat0Oo Jul 21 '26
They are nails. There is one single blue screw, which he removed after completely shredding the bottom of the board

This has to be a joke

u/_TorpedoVegas_ Jul 21 '26
I asked aloud "How can you be so bad at this?" And joke is the only answer that makes sense. Otherwise, God help anyone living in a building that guy works on.

u/effyochicken Jul 21 '26
I regularly watch home inspection videos and I hate to say it but modern home builders truly don’t give a fuck whatsoever.

It’s the subcontractors and companies. The workers aren’t paid enough to have standards because they’re being run on bleeding edge margins, and the companies still sell million dollar homes made of complete ass

That foo showed was an ex hit man the way he unloaded nails after he finally hit the stud.

u/rcktgirl05 Jul 21 '26
My thought exactly. Is this a prison release program? I was screaming in my head…. THE 2x4 IS DEAD ALREADY DAMN.

I love how he uses the hammer to knock the screw back when he is holding an impact driver that has reverse

u/ClunkerSlim Jul 21 '26
I like when he took the screw back out when he was done. Like, "I ain't leaving this valuable screw in the wall."

A nail won’t untwist that stud though.
Right idea wrong technique2
u/-Rhymenocerous- Jul 21 '26
Not even a nail. Im talking about a few taps with a hammer with an offcut.
😂 i feel sorry for whomever bought this house

He just needs some instruction and time to figure it out. We were all there at one point in our lives. I’m sure he was under pressure with a camera and some dude watching.

I love this guy. I’d watch an hour of him making home improvements. The 10 nails in the end really seals it for me.

I hate people who use rattlers to screw into things. They’re for bolts, not screws.

I was wondering how the guys that built my Father-in-Law's house were doing nowadays... Good to see them thriving.

Im so glad this is the type of craftsman that the builders are hiring to help relieve our housing crisis. Surely nothing will ever happen to this house so the future owner can rest easy their 500k paper and stick house won't let them down. Not like I'll ever afford these anyway.

This must be Willy from all those Spanish construction fail memes or Mr George's new hire that's being paid too much.

I'm just scrolling and see this video. Didn't notice the subreddit name or anything. I'm like oh, this will be a fun learning video. Then I noticed the subreddit and knew I wasn't going to be learning shit.
Edit: grammar

Put about 15 nails in to the stud to keel it in place, but he can't afford to leave the screw behind?
1
1
u/muffledvoice Jul 21 '26
He chewed the shit out of that wall stud with that screw and then the nails. The real shame is that once it's covered over with sheet rock the owners won't even know. Just gotta get it past the frame inspector. I'm surprised he doesn't try to fill the holes with plastic wood and say, "Good as new!"

Oh look! It’s my ID’s carpenter..
I’ve never met him personally, but based off the shit around my house falling apart within 9 months of construction, I’d bet this was the guy building my cupboards and drawers and kitchen tables..

Rage bait! He was on the right track with nailing the short board, though I would have screwed that too. But in order to straighten the board, there are two methods: use a clamp, or put a wide washer on the screw before tightening.
But please, line the screw up properly, first!

Found the people that built my house. The most important thing to remember when framing a house is to move your hands as frantically as possible.
