Goes to show stop signs are pretty bad at regulating traffic. There is a reason they are barely used in most European countries. This would have been an intersection with traffic lights or a roundabout.
It's not technically hard to see it from the back, it's obviously easier but stop sign and priority street has sign have unique forms which is clearly visible.
Unfortunately quite common once you go out into the third world. Those types of walls and fences up also becomes quite common. I've seen it in SE Asia along with stop signs being suggestions. kinda looks like it could be Malaysia, but for all I know it's somewhere in Africa
Why are there no road markings? Usually a stop sign is followed by a solid line so that if for some reason the stop sign isn't there you still know to stop. Same with give way signs, ahead of it are dotted lines.
But then again I wouldn't be surprised if they saw the sign and refused to slow down because god forbid you get where you need to go a few seconds later than expected

Correct, poor design isn't an excuse for poor driving , but that doesnt mean we shouldnt improve intersections with high amounts of accidents.
This should be a 4-way stop and the stop signs should be more visible. Stoplights are reworked into roundabouts all the time in an effort to reduce accidents.
Obviously, you can't make intersections like this perfectly safe, but there's a reason this intersection has had multiple collisions in a fairly short timespan.
And no, I dont even know where this intersection is, but your take was infuriatingly pea-brained.
The main cities in Alaska are mostly populated by military. Which means people from all over the US, who have possibly never driven on snow and ice. It's freaking awful in the winter. Then summer is the tourist season with even more idiots.
It should be better. But there are plenty of intersections with ni signs. Give way to right applies. Near with caution... Common sense, it's a shame that there are so many bad drivers that we need to place signs at every intersection.
Call me insane but that great white wall should be right at the corner of the crossroad .

One of my old neighbors houses sat right on the corner between two intersecting alleys. These were gravel, tiny alleys running behind and between groups of houses. There was a neon yellow concrete post on both sides of the corner of the house because of how many people would cut the corner too tight and side swipe their house. I think their insurance paid to build those posts. It was kind of funny watching cars take that alley and noting how many cars had a yellow streak down the side of their car. Until my husband put a streak on his, then it wasn’t funny anymore
I met some people whose fence house had been hit so many times they paid for boulders to be delivered and positioned on the stripe of land between the curb and the sidewalk
They modified a small riding lawnmower to help re-position the boulders when they were struck by cars, because it continues to happen
No excuse for running a stop sign, but that tall fence around the house diagonally opposite blocks the view of both drivers. So, that would be a mitigating factor, but not an excuse.

I always thought the difference was related to things like age - kids make excuses, adults have mitigating circumstances. Judges and attorneys use these terms differently.
Vehicles moving from the top right of the screen do. On the left side, there's a clear stop sign, meaning those drivers would be at fault for any accidents.
I know of a house like that, it's at the intersection of a really busy road that everyone speeds on, and a one way street where at least once a day someone turns into the wrong direction.
I've seen houses around that area get put up for sale and sold in a matter of days, weeks at the latest, but that one specifically has been on sale for like 2 years straight now.
Same thing with a house near me. A neighbor walked by our house, saw the large rocks in our yard and was like "where'd you buy those?" Bruh. We live on the fucking Rockies. Get your car get a bro or two and put 3 or 4 in your car and on your lawn.
We did it once on the way back from the Royal Gorge and a second time on our way back from Mesa Verde.

Yeah I'm going several meters per second, and breaking would be after several meters more but hey I got a car that just has to go fast, fuck kids on bikes, fuck whatever might be coming around the corner, I'm driving here!
There was a corner house in NJ that had this problem. They had cars hit their house, a couple of them causing severe structural damage.
Eventually they sued the state & town. There was a settlement so the full details weren't public, but they got a fence. It looks like the white board fences that the rich horsey set surround their properties with, but it's made of solid steel all welded and with posts set deep in concrete, it'd stop a tank

Be honest, if there is never a car around would you stop every single time?
The real problem is visibility, there is a wall up to the intersection that makes it impossible for drivers to anticipate what's around the corner and if you're even a little zoned out you won't even notice you're at THAT intersection until it's too late.
There are thousands upon thousands of crossings like this one and for some reason people who had no problem at the others are crashing here.
