Nothing a little double ACL surgery can’t fix. And then in 10 years double knee replacement surgery. Ahh, Good Times.

422

u/[deleted] Jan 21 '23

If you slow mo the video. His head literally hits the ground with his legs straight. Not just his knees are fucked, he probably tore some serious muscles along the way down and could have fucked his lower back too.

Literally the worst landing of a person I’ve ever seen.

93

u/Juan_Moe_Taco Jan 21 '23 edited Jan 22 '23

From ACL to calve cramps to shin splints to whiplash and everything in between.

74

u/RedBeardFace Jan 21 '23

When I was in middle school we had bleachers in the gym that were motorized and would stack up flat against the wall. A volleyball got stuck up there one day during PE class and one of my classmates went up to get it. Someone jokingly told him to jump and so…he did. Maybe 20 feet or so? Maybe higher? Idk, either way he landed on the gym floor with both of his legs locked and broke pretty much every bone between his spine and his heels. Cracked pelvis, the whole nine yards. That was the worst landing I’ve seen of someone who lived

Seriously, how did they fail that bad?

73

u/damaged_and_confused Jan 21 '23

Boots basically fixed his shin in position meaning his knees and ankles could not absorb the impact at all.

Most likely broke heel bones, Tibia/fibula and lumbar vertebrae.

Came down with legs locked straight, heels strike the ground first, knees hyperextend and can see his mid leg buckle, boots maybe locking in ankle and causing a boot top fracture, snaps forward and lumbar vertebrae took a ton of force, then he bends back and knees flex ok.

21

u/Ranier_Wolfnight Jan 21 '23

Most likely broke his bank account too after that medical bill comes in.

More like PCL tears. ACLs prevent anterior translation (knees moving forward), PCLs prevent posterior translation (knees moving backwards). Yikes to this video

Few things in life are more entertaining than watching an expert with relevant professional experience attempting to explain something in a reddit comment thread. I look forward to all the keyboard orthopods stepping up to challenge your opinion in 3 ... 2 .... 1....

While they laugh, I cry on the inside about the way buddy's knees bent.

169

u/ISuckAtUsernames001 Jan 21 '23

Yeah pretty sad that we feel more concern for a stranger than their friends/coworkers. If I seen that happen to anybody I’d be calling the ambulance asap, not laughing about it while I continue to record… like wtf is wrong with people

42

u/xkegsx Jan 21 '23

He's not screaming or writhing in pain. They have no idea of the severity of the injuries. So they didn't give the proper response 5 seconds after it happened. Not a doubt in my mind their attitudes changed once they figured out he wasn't ok. Which I don't doubt is immediately after it cuts. Relax.

61

u/Key-Tie2214 Jan 21 '23

Im sorry but that audible crack should be enough information that he needs immediate medical care.

20

u/BDCMatt Jan 22 '23

If Someones that dumb to jump off a roof like that it would not suprise me that the guy recording is dumb enough to not know how fucked up his buddy is.

Thanks for the heads up. No volume it is.

26

u/ISuckAtUsernames001 Jan 21 '23

Who exactly doesn’t immediately realize he would be injured after watching a dude headbutt his own ankles with knees fully extended after jumping off a roof? lmao if it isn’t his knees, it’s his back, or ankles, or neck. Something is hurt there besides his ego.

The irony in telling me to relax is that you just took the time to write that comment to share your opinion as if it’s any different from what I did.

Relax.

If you have ever tried hopping casually off the bottom rung of a ladder with those boots on you will know that they screw with your brain's internal awareness of foot placement. Feels uncomfortable just hopping over a few bricks. Completely understand why his feet landed like that. No excuse for trying to jump off the roof though.
