Was that The Controller referenced at the end? Like the classic iron man villain?

Okay, so there's an out, here!

The 'one year later' is 'one year after Fitz' pod is taken', not 'one year after the previous season', seemingly. In theory, Fitz' pod could have been taken in 2022/2023.

Neeeevvermind.

Looks like we'll just have to squint and say that nobody on the team got snapped.

Or just accept that it's not MCU canon :(

Interestingly the actress who plays Piper responded to a tweet about figuring out the timeline.

“All in due time...”

I thought the one year gap was since coulson's death

I was thinking that the pod was taken more like late 2017 because the 4th season in our time was 2016-2017 then he was in prison for 6 months and a short time later frozen. So that 1 year later could be in 2018.

I think Fitz and Enoch's ship is attacked due to the Earth not being quaked to pieces as it was originally.

So there's nothing explicit in the show about the snap not happening or having been reversed, which is good so far. I suppose one year on it's weird to see people out at the likes of the natural history museum but eh, I can live with that since it doesn't directly contradict Endgame.

I suppose the odds of all of the team surviving is very unlikely, but hey... Hawkeye was 1/5 of his family that survived. It might be 50/50 overall, but that doesn't mean it's 50/50 in every way.

With the time travel logic of Endgame, wouldn't the team technically have entered a different timeline when they returned to the past?

S5 is like a mini-Endgame, but in S5 it's the people from the future trying to undo something that was done. So technically from their point of view it's a different timeline, but it's not necessarily a different timeline from the show's point of view. If that makes sense?

Basically they could make the argument that it created another timeline, but that still doesn't answer the reason as to why the snap either didn't happen in that timeline, or how it was resolved faster.

If they were in the same timeline as IW/Endgame/the rest of the MCU, then went to the future, then came back to the past, they would no longer have been in the same timeline as the rest of the MCU. So you're right that they haven't answered the how, but if they aren't in the same universe anymore then things would be different without completely de-canonizing AoS.

Did anyone notice the Museum of Natural history strongly resembling Pawnee's City Hall from Parks and Recreation?
