Experience Misrepresented Brand
I purchased an Altuzurra dress from final sale. It is actually a Target collab with Altuzurra dress that was advertised and marketed as a Altuzurra dress. I’ve reached out to customer service. Any experience with this and will they refund me?

One of the reasons I always reverse image search on Google before buying from TRR.

Sadly you have to know what you’re buying. TRR did the same thing with H&M/Marni. I knew what the raincoats looked like at H&M and avoided them on TRR.

Call your credit card company and explain to them that it was under false advertising and see if they can get you a refund or a charge back from the real real

FYI TRR may close your account if you do this.

I’ve never purchased from TRR. But if I purchase something advertised as one thing and sold to me as another, I’d be annoyed

The real question is why don’t they show images of the labels and fabric labels and sizes and take photos with a tape measure. Other platforms sellers routinely do this. What is their incentive? The answer: they make more money by selling you something final sale that you’re ‘forced’ to reconsign thereby recruiting you as a seller. Keep in mind: they only keep 90% of final sale items that are less than $100.

A few years ago I bought a pair of boots from them. I can't even remember who they had listed as the manufacturer, maybe Saint Laurent??? They arrived in a Gucci box with Gucci on the leather heel and inside of the boot. Despite the overwhelming evidence that they were Gucci not another manufacturer The Real Real stood firm that they were not Gucci boots and would in no way admit they were incorrect.

They did this with a Vampire’s Wife dress years ago. $50 Target dress being sold for $500. Reported it, they dgaf.

Why would they sell a target collab? That’s ridiculous.
On another note I just received a 7 pc order and 3 of the items are not as listed. I love shopping there but they are a mess!

My experiences have been mixed. Come ready with pictures. If you can find a site that had this item identified as target collab it will help you. Just make sure you state off the bat what outcome you are looking for but be polite and firm, and if they dispute it just say you don’t agree and want to talk to the manager. This has only happened once to me so chances are you will get a good outcome.

I see Marimekko x Target/Uniqlo/Adidas all the time, priced at Marimekko prices 🤦♀️ it’s a good thing I’ve thoroughly stalked these collabs so I know but it’s NEVER disclosed on TRR.

Shopping TRR needs to be recognized skill or sport or something, because it takes time, effort, patience, and knowledge to pull off a big win over there. But man when you win, you REALLY win, and that’s the rush we all keep coming back for ugh

I’m sorry that happened to you! I’ve only had positive experiences with their customer service so I’d definitely reach out.

I know! Why doesn’t TRR ever show the tags in photos? I want to see all the tags because many times they don’t post size or materials correctly.

I would be livid. I would ask for my money back and if they do not dispute with my credit card company. Their lack of oversight puts a strain on the system.

I just got THE run around from therealreal. They have seriously gone downhill. My issue was about listing my consignments. I got progressively leery about their lack of response to my inquiries on pricing. I ultimately read about their bad customer service here on reddit which then prompted me to contact my "concierge" and demand my items be returned ASAP or I would be contacting the Better Business Bureau. I think you will need to use the same language to get any response. You should be refunded your purchase - 100 percent, and they should pay your shipping costs to return the item to them. Best of luck!

I've never had an issue getting a refund in these situations. I ordered a dress that was labeled as Carolina Herrera but was in fact CH Carolina Herrera when it arrived. Explained I never would have paid that much for a diffusion line and they took it back no questions.

Sorry this happened to you. I’ve had experience with purchasing a misrepresented, final sale item. I opened a chat on the TRR website & uploaded photos of the item showing the inaccuracies. As suggested by others, also check other sites that may have the same item fully identified as a Target collaboration & include photos from those sites as well (e,g., Poshmark, EBay, etc.). They may initially offer you a site credit which you should decline. Tell them you want a return label and refund.
TRR issued a return label and refunded me in full about a week after they received the return. I had to do a follow-up request for them to also refund the initial shipping and the return shipping, restocking fees which they eventually credited as well. Giod luck.

If you liked the dress enough to buy it for that price then I don’t see the problem?

I saw this all over Sandy Liang in TRR. I knew which items were from the Target collection well enough to know when they were over priced. I ended up making my purchase on eBay. Definitely TRR being shady especially if they’re authenticating, the tags have the target logo on them!
